I read the book years after seeing the movie several times and was pleasntly surprised at the changes.
I'm a sucker for warm endearing stories so this one was right up my alley.

Actually, I hated it. It was no where NEAR as good as the movie, and the lesbian overtones were totally unexpected. I didn't finish it. I'll stick to the movie.

I loved this book, I've come to realize I'm a fan of quirky southern fiction. It was funny, sad and uplifting. Made me want to hop on a train and jump off at the Whistle Stop Café.

Excellent book with a surprise "passing" twist.

Can't get enough of Flagg's homespun tales...apparently these are where it all started for her.

This is by far the best book I have read in such a long time. I laughed and I cried and I completely fell in love with all the characters and I was so disappointed when it ended! everyone should read this at least once

I love this film and have had the book sat on my bookshelf for too long. Decided to read it and although it is different from the film it's just as wonderful. I honestly feel as though I've been sat in a favourite old cardigan wrapped up warm and snuggly whilst reading this book, but the threads of the cardigan were all the wonderful characters in this book. I started reading this around the middle of December and it was due to my schedule and not the content of the book that it's taken me so long to read it. I would highly reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story.

Just a wonderful book!

Having read the 2020 sequel first, I knew I had to read the original. Oh, the storytelling! The richness of language. The intense characters and actions. Thank you, Fannie Flagg, for saying yes to the muses and writing this story!

Both great
