These are recipes from my childhood...literally. The recipes and stories are based on those from my Great-Aunt Bess and her cafe in Irondale, and the family who bought the cafe from her. You can see my aunt on one of the first pages feeding a cat. When I'm missing her, I take this out and it takes me back to my childhood and the good times I shared with her.

Loved this down to earth cookbook!! It actually is chockful of delightful southern dishes! It has a place of honor.. on my FAVE cookbook shelf.. in the bookcase in my kitchen! I've made quite a few dishes from this cookbook! Very easy to follow along... cooks of all ages will enjoy this one!

Love this cookbook! Love the recipes; grew up eating a lot of these and marked numerous ones to try. Loved the writing and commentary by Fannie Flagg and the connection to her book Fried Green Tomatoes.
