Jesus Freaks is a book full of compiled stories of Christian Martyrs. A Martyr is someone who suffer, sacrifices, and/or die s for a cause. So this book is about Christians all around the globe who have been tortured or killed for refusing to deny their faith. All most of these Christians had to do was simply deny the name of Jesus and say they don’t follow Him. Then they would have been set free, they would no longer be cruelly beaten, their viscous tortures would stop, and they could save their lives. However they completely refused to utter a foul phrase about Jesus. In the end most all of these people were killed if not severely handicapped by their tortures; some are lucky enough to still be alive in prison. The program “The Voice of the Martyrs” was made to record stories like this so that these people will not be forgotten and to encourage Christians around the world to pray for their Brothers and Sisters suffering for the Gospel. The book also happens to be scattered with different encouraging verses to keep our faith strong.

This book is full of lies designed to frighten children into believing in a god that demands human sacrifice and martyrdom. That is all.

Fantastic Book! This book was written by the Christian Rock band-DC Talk and the organization-The Voice of the Martyrs. Although this book came out in 1999 it is still very relevant for today. It is basically a copilation of stories about Christians being martyred for their faith. Though every century since Christ died there are stories listed in this book of those believers that lost their lives for their faith in Christ. A very convicting book in the least. For me, there is alot of eye candy in it. Meaning I love the texture of the book. The pics inside, the different typesets used and the jagged edges of the paper to make the book appear old or worn. These are all asthetics but add value and character to the book in my opinion. This is not a short book. It is over 350 pgs but I was able to read it in less than a week. The stories are what captivate the reader to keep reading. Definately a book to recommend if you are someone involved in missions or have a desire to pray and help the persecuted church.

I read this book quite a few years ago. It was such a wonderful book with a plethora of insight to the subject of Christian persecution. However, I was only about 11 years old when I read it, and the gruesome descriptions kind of startled me. I would recommend this book to anyone who is an adult, or mature tween/teen.

Read this as part of my devotional time during the first part of the year [2008]. It is phenomonal what we take for granted here in the USA. The back portion of this book will be used for specific targeted prayer.

This book is full of stories of Martyrs from times before Christ to the 1990's. It shows how people have had the faith to endure hours, months, years of torture and ridicule and death for what they believe it most. Kind of gives a person more faith, seeing the extremes these people went to, just to tell their truth. It also shows that the war is still raging on.

This book is a toxic example of the indoctrination of Christians. It is a toxic miasma of putrid reliance on religion and fear of a god that the Old Testament says wants you to burn and suffer if you don’t fall to his might. It’s no wonder these fundamentalist Christians fell in love with trump. He fits the disgusting narcissism of the god they so adore. A god that has killed more in his own book than the supposed bad guy. I used to want to die for that god, and it’s disgusting. Telling a child to die for religion is horrid and should not be promoted let alone celebrated. This book represents much of what is wrong with religion and it’s zealousness.

This book can be inspiring when taken in the right context. These are stories not of people turning into martyrs for the cause but people who did not waiver from their beliefs and can show us how faith gives us strength.
