We are finally near the end confrontation. I'm really enjoying this cat-and-mouse chase Darren have with Steve, and boy was that a tragedy. I appreciate that the author doesn't hold back on the threat of deaths hanging around the characters, it makes the suspense feels all the more real. But what happens with Shancus tho, that left me with mix feelings but I'm glad the author didn't do it for the shock value. It's what one of the things I love most about this series.

This one is very action-packed which I very much appreciated. Can't wait to see what the final confrontation holds in store.

Best one yet! Darren is heading home. Back to where it all began in his hometown with the Cirque.. Naturally Steve shows up and causes great grief. I honestly could not believe it. And i found myself worrying about the state of Darren's mind. Who will become the Lord of Shadows? Onto the next!

The real question is what now? I hate to toot my own horn, but going into this book I got a rough idea that we had been lead by the monster the whole time, and now I know I was right. I said it before, but I'm gonna say it again, I hope Darren feels all the pain of these downfalls because he is now part of a path he can't come back from. He's gone too far, and he's no more of a monster than Steve and the rest of the vampeneze. And to think this is all some stupid war over an 18-year grudge because Steve didn't get what he wanted. Mr. Crepsly still somehow blooded a monster, He could be alive if it wasn't for some stupid 12-year-olds.

Well hot damn. I finished this book and my heart is racing. Absolute triller and horror. Honestly speechless at the end.

Almost to the end- I love how this book takes us back to Darren's hometown with the Cirque that started it all. I thought it was actually pretty interesting to see the division between the police being on the side of the vampaneze while the "homeless network" was mobilizing for the vampires as a group of people that had been most targeted by the vampaneze. It's a little funny to me how much talking there is during very charged scenes, with very little battling- the pacing is weird in that way. I was devastated when Steve killed Shancus rather than trade Shancus for his own son Darius, and appalled by Darren's move to kill Darius- stopped only by the revelation that Darius was actually Darren's nephew. Very dramatic and tragic that Darren was so convinced that there was no escape from being the lord of the shadows and giving in to dark impulses.

Lord of the Shadows by Darren Shan is the 11th book out of 12 books in the series. This book made me want to finish the series. It really made up for the 10th book, which wasn't as great, and gave excitement. There was also action and unexpected things that could suprise the reader. Darren Shan's way of writing, leaving you in a cliffhanger throughout the book, would make someone keep on reading until the end of the series and could even persuade you to read other books by him. This book is based off of Darren Shan's, a half vampire, point of view and his quest on killing the lord of the vampaneze. People would appreciate it depending if they like suspense or horror types of books beacsuse overall, Darren Shan's books are mostly based off those types of topics and themes. He writes in a very powerful way that allows you to feel how the characters feel even if they are in pain, scared, or even nervous all at the same time. The point of not knowing whats going to happen next gives you suspence as well as his foreshadowing. This book would definitely change your opinion about vampires.

Wow, what a ride of a book this was! It seemed darker than the others but things are really building to the finale in book 12. Darren is still trying to defeat the vampaneze and win the War of the Scars. But with his future destiny caught up in all of it he must make sure he doesn’t lose his mind to hate & anger along the way. This was such a great read. Now onto the finale…

Aunque sospechaba lo que se revela al final, como quiera me sorprendió. Sin duda, este libro es uno de mis favoritos de la saga

I feel like Darren isn't really growing in this series. He keeps reacting the same way over and over and never seems to learn. He keeps disregarding his instincts and acting like 'surely this person couldn't be bad!' I wanted to wring his neck several times. I will hope that he grows up a little in the last book and everything comes out okay. :) Look! I am being ridiculously optimistic and naïve like Darren!
