Text-to-World Connection
This is a book that helps children articulate how the feel and how to express their feelings. Being able to trust one another and talk about how you may feel is very important for a teacher and students. In the world today it is even more critical for educators to pay attention to their students and when they are expressing how they feel. You need to be there for your students and reassure them that you are here to help guide them in society. This book offers through simple versus and illustrations, the vocabulary children need to understand and express how they feel.

The book “The Way I Feel” by Janan Cain is a children’s picture book. This book is intended for age groups 3-8 years. This book’s purpose is to try and get children and adults to be comfortable with their feelings and emotions, and to express them through words. She also shows what all the different emotions are and the situations you might have them. Some of these emotions include happy, sad, thankful, disappointed, scared, silly, etc. I rated this book 3 stars personally because I connect more with novels over picture books, but this is a perfect picture book for younger children who pay more attention to the visual aspects of books. This book uses bright and colorful images with dialogue that is easy to follow, for children of many ages to understand. The illustrations of the kids' expressions and the colors also show what these feelings can look and feel like. This book could also help children get in touch with their emotions and feelings without feeling embarrassed or ashamed. This book could also expand their vocabulary. Some people are raised to act “tough” and hide their emotions, so I like how this book takes a different approach and has no judgment.

I really enjoyed this book! I like how the story labeled so many different emotions. I also like how they didn't label any emotion as wrong. It had such a great message!
