not bad. not great. not in any area. not great in terms of the horses, not great in terms of the characters or believability, not great in terms of writing or prose.

however, a quick read, a nice (brief) glimpse into the world of dressage, and some funny moments (that are then ruined by constant repetition). could have been half as long and maybe have been better. and loose ends! ugh. it is so hard for me to give books one star, but dude, this came close - but perhaps because i was so damn disappointed by the true lack of the horses in the book.

(there's more about jack russell terriers! then again, that was funny, because there are so many of them at the show season and they are like rats in the new york subway system.)

Lazy reading I took for the plane ride to Texas. Once I got used to the author's style I liked the book. Wish it was about jumping rather than dressage but what can you do? It was entertaining enough.

3 3/4 Stars! Of course I enjoyed the book because it was set around a horse barn, but even if you do not know anything about the horse world this is a good back. The main character makes a life alternating decision based on her dreams and finally stands up to her cheating jerk of a husband, moves away from her comfort zone and simply starts over. she moves in to an apartment with several other women and the bantering and mingling of their lives is explosive, amusing, and an easy read. I have already recommended this to a non-horse person.

And if you have been in the show world this is spot on.

This is unbearable for me...

Someone make it stop!!! I can't take the boredom anymore! It's suffocating!

Not even all the power of the Greek gods could give me the strength to try and complete this book. My attention span kept running wild getting distracted by other things. I only made it a few chapters in before I had to call it quits with this book.

Even as someone who horseback rides, I can't even force myself to complete the book. Even talking about this book I feel like I'm boring myself. Its driving me nuts!

Maybe one day I'll be able to read this book to the fullest and not feel like I'm trapped in a box of boredom that's trying to smother me to my demise. The back description is really good, but as of right now I can't deal with this book.

This was fun. Light & funny with plenty of horsey information & activity. The only somewhat unbelievable part was that a backyard rider could progress so quickly to winning 2d level dressage tests but then she's riding top of the line horses so.... Loved depictions of some of the quirky characters, like "Dr. Bulge". Cute book jacket, too.

I saw this on sale and went to buy it today. Upon reading the summary I realized I'd read it at some point. I remember the little dogs and something about a terrible horse. I think I kinda liked it, but who the hell knows. I hate when books slip through the GR cracks.

Madcap and light and rather clichéd. Fluffy, but does have horses so its got that going for it. Reminded me a little of Revenge of the Middle-aged Woman, but not as good.

Three stars. Recommended only for fans of chick-lit; worth reading for hippophiles, but not likely to be a beloved book.
