Thank you for reiterating that wealth does not give internal peace. I loved this book because it spoke to me as a believer about purpose.

I love watch this family's faith helping them overcome the trials of life. Seeing to young woman so connected through their parent's friendship and sacrifice. Seeing them grow in their relationship with God and understanding of the world. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Not sure I ever really read the whole book or if I just lost interest in the series after buying and starting to read this book.

It grew on me.

I at first found the abundance of prayer, praising God, and reading the Bible overboard, like it was shoved in and unnecessary, but the more I read, the more it warmed my heart and I wanted my life to be like these characters'. Likewise, the characters at first appeared too good to be true, but conflicts--including inner wars--developed, and they had character arcs. From beginning to end, I enjoyed the different settings.

The main issues I have are the head-hopping and that it didn't focus more on Nicole. It seemed Janette Oke was trying to make her writing omniscent--that is, show everyone's perspectives at once in a tranquil sort of way, like Jane Austen--but instead she went deep into one person's thoughts, feelings, and opinions, then jumped to another in the next paragraph or sentence. This threw me out of the story. (Actually, it--head-hopping--throws anyone out of any story.) And this is just a personal opinion, but I liked Nicole and was disappointed when the book's focus drifted away from her.

As a side note, it is a good idea to read the books of this series in order! This can be read as a stand-alone, but you might be confused when characters start speaking of their pasts, how they've transformed over the years, where they've come from, etc., if you don't.

Overall, this was a lovely novel, and I look forward to reading the next book!

5 stars, Beautifully written, captivating

The Song of Acadia series, written by Janette Ole, T Davis Bunn is OUTSTANDING.
The story wraps it as around your heart and you become part of the adventure of the Familes involved. There circumstances in life brings many trials and much joy as they lean on GODS love and guidance. Many lessons can be learned and shared through their life in the beginning of the colonies and the hardship of war. The adventures of characters, it is so real. A Must read.
