I tried, but I couldn't get into this story .... yep, I skipped through to the end and saw that there were things happening and a sort of happy endings, but sorry, this story, novel didn't grab me to want to continue to read it ...
My first novel of Barbara Taylor Bradford. Rosie Madigan is the Angel. Everyone wish to have a girl like Rosie. She is good at heart and always wants to see goodwill around. Barbara Taylor Bradford sewed a story through the life of Rosie Madigan, Kevin Madigan, Gavin Ambrose and Nell Jeffrey. Rosie accentuated in every phase of their life and every nooks and crannies of the novel.
I had seen an elegant and alluring picture of Barbara Taylor Bradford o the back cover of this book, that made my mind to have the book and to see how much her pen could detain my reading. As expected I felt unexcited on initial chapters. An unknown author to me and a not so interesting preface leads to interest scarcity. But very soon, I picked up the pace and started to fly along with the authors imagination. My mind traveled through the simple yet seems intricate life's of characters. And I love reading it.
Angel is splited into 4 parts: Shining Stars Sacred Friendships Dangerous Relationships Truest Loves
Shining Stars, narrates the ultra luxurious and extravagant life of the characters in this novel. Rosie Madigan, the academy award winning costume designer. Kevin madigan, undercover cop, inhabits a world of danger. Gavin Ambrose, the Hollywood megastar. Nell Jeffrey, head of one of the successful international public relations company. Johnny Fortune, the biggest music performer in Europe. All of them are in the peak of their career and leads a life having loads of cash surpluses. Kevin is the brother of Rosie. Nell is the best friend of Rosie. Nell and Kevin are in love. Rosie loved Gavin. Gavin loved her back. Both of them cant express themselves because they were entangled to the world they create themselves. Johnny Fortune loves Rosie and Rosie loved him back, but later she met with the realization that it was not love towards Johny, it was just lust and infatuation. But the fate has got something different for them. And it is not that easy for them to have a relationship in their hectic business world.
Second part is Sacred Friendship, it narrates the life of Rosie in Montfleurie castle in Paris. Rosie was married to Guy but the marriage was a disaster. Yet she is reluctant to file divorce against Guy because Henrie De Montfleurie considered Rosie as his daughter. And Collie, Henri's daughter, consider Rosie as her sister. And that is the only family Rosie had in the whole world. She doesn't want to lose such a loving family because of a failed marriage with Guy. Second part is the journey through the life of Rosie, Guy(Rosies husband), Henrie(Guys father), Collie(Henrie's Daughter), Lisette(Collies Kid), Kyra(Henri's secret affair).
Dangerous Relationship, is the part where the relationships turned out to be messy and tensed up. Johnny Fortune, the biggest music performer, comes from the family of Don Salvatore and Vito. Kevin madigan, Rosies brother cum undercover cop investigates the traits of Don Salvatore. Nell who loves Kevin and need him so much, wants him to be out of this danger. Rosies realization of love and infatuation are narrated in this part.
Truest Loves, the part where once best friends, then parted, finally reunited again. And the reunion is for a life time. They earned and learned life and its complexities. their love towards each others are so much prominent that they swore to be a family till the end of their life. Rosie and Gavin. Nell and kevin.
According to me, the best part is Sacred Friendships. I felt so happy reading it and by the end of that chapter Barabara Taylor Bradford really made my eyes wet. The beauty of friendship and the protection of family are distinguished by the author. The first part of Shining Star and the last part of Truest loves seems less compelling. I am really disappointed with the climax, which could have been made much better. After all, Angel is a story worth reading. Friendship, love and family are the factors highlighted in this novel. The interest in reading this novel depends from person to person, but as a whole, Angel is a very good novel with a very slight monotony.
Not my usual read but did enjoy it. wasn't a page turner and I wasn't dying to pick it up again but when I did puck it up I disappeared into the lives of Rosie, Gavin and Nell and found time disappeared.
This book was good, but I felt it was a bit predictable. It had a lot of good parts but I was a little bored part of the time. Maybe I've read so many intense books recently that this one seemed a little less interesting.
It does go on a little with certain desciptions of things which i didn't think was necessary but the story itself was interesting, funny at times, sad, and thrilling.
Older novel tracing the lives of four orphans. Rosie is a costume designer, Gavin is an actor, Nell is Gavin's agent, and Kevin is an undercover cop. Also mentioned are the two from their group that they don't see anymore. Mikey disappeared a few years ago, and Sunny is in a mental institution because of taking drugs that fried her brain.
