I surprisingly enjoyed this book after putting it off for so long (years, in fact). Anne is a wonderfully charming and energetic girl, whom we see grow and change throughout these books. It is wonderful optimism and made me smile to read her antics and goings on. It is not without its sorrow however but it emphasizes the realities of life, which is that while there can be a lot of good if we know where to look for it, there can be unexpected sadness as well. IT is how we deal with it that develops up and it shows through Anne's portrayal and her interactions with the town of Avonlea. Her descriptions of places and things are charming and highlight the innocence of youth. She is not without her faults however, but as she grows she matures delightfully and with grace. I only wish i had read it sooner.

This is the book that my best friend introduced me to when we were 11 years old. we became close friends after because of our love of this book, the character and her antics. and we love Anne's romance with Gilbert Blythe.

afterwards, we became a bonafide Anne addict and read the entire series, until Anne of Ingleside.

This is one of those books I’ve always wanted to read but never got round to. It was my granny’s favourite when she was a wee girl and I read the copy I bought her for Christmas a few years ago.
I loved it - every chapter is a little vignette into Anne’s life and the book spans 5 years. I loved her as a character and her unique way of seeing the world. I would love to visit Green Gables in P.E.I one day! Can’t wait to read the rest of these novels.

Oxfam Reading Challenge: A book that made you cry
How in all my reading years had I never come across the delightful, effervescent red-headed (though I know she'd prefer it described as auburn or titian) Ann"e" of Green Gables before? The textured desciptions of Avonlea are transportive. But it was the stoic Marilla and shy, doting William that provide the little orphan girl a home and the chance to fulfil so many of her dreams and ambitions that stole my heart. *Spoiler* Chapter 37 caused me real anguish!
Interestingly I read this during the COVID-19 lockdown only to learn that a century ago LM Montgomery herself was stricken with and almost died during the "Spanish Flu" pandemic (1918-1919) that killed between 50-100 million people all over the world.

This book! I love this book with all my heart. Everything in this book is so amazing, calming, and precious. Reading the whole story makes me calm and relax, and somehow it feels like I'm living in the beautiful world that Anne created. I can say that reading this book is like a therapy. Well written and poetical, Thanks to Lucy for written such a masterpiece.

Compared with the movie. The first time I watched "Anne with an E", I guess I kinda didn't like Anne, she's annoying not gonna lie. But when I read the whole book of Anne, I feel like, I've fallen in love with her without me knowing. Her character development is unpredictable and I'm proud of her. I'm happy for her and cry for her. She showed me how to live a life that full of darkness, she showed me how beautiful the world is, she showed me how to use our imagination to still alive, how to stand alone, and how to love.

I owe Marilla and Matthew my thanks for taking care of Anne. I love Matthew with all my heart and I cried when he's gone. I wanna hug Marilla and tell her that she'll be okay. and of course I wanna have a best friend like Diana Barry. Everything about her is gorgeous. No I mean, everything about this book is magnificent.

This boook isn't a romance but it has written very romantic, like every single thing in this book is romantic

DNF pp. 426 - I think perhaps this is something easier to listen to than read.
