When Mr. Happy visits the library he doesn't expect to discover a talking book. But that is just what happens and the book is a magic book and the speaker is a wizard.

The wizard persuades Mr. Happy to take the book home with him and on his way home he meets Mr. Forgetful, Mr. Worry and Mr. Small and on each occasion he asks the wizard to produce a spell to help each of them.

But the spells do not work out quite right and Mr. Happy has quite a job reversing them so much so that when he has the opportunity to choose a spell for himself he declines!

When a wizard's spell book is used by Mr Happy it leads to some unintended consequences.

‎I thought this book had a sweet story, good illustrations and the moral underlying this tale was sensible.

On his way to return a wizard's lost spell book and hat, Mr. Happy tries using magic to help other Mr. Men characters.

This story introduces the idea of things having unintended consequences, cautioning readers to be careful what you wish for or, in this case, be careful which spell you cast.

I appreciated that the story beings with Mr. Happy's regular Saturday morning visit to the public library. Being a reader must certainly contribute to Mr. Happy’s happiness.
