Very nice series. I only wish that they could have taken the movies to the extent that the books went. I really like the depth that Robert Ludlum was able to bring to the characters, not only the main character, but the others as well. Nice to see that the main character is also flawed and has to struggle through that in the later books, and that he didn't "get the bad guy" at the end of the first story. Would recommend to anyone.

The movies are so good I thought the books must be better, but they aren't. In all fairness, they're post-cold war era and the technology is about 30 yrs out of date, but I could barely stand to get through them. A man's book for sure. Women only show up to round out the story a little and only as needed to make the hero look better. Though I have to say I prefer that Marie doesn't die in the books, as in the movies. That's about it.

I first read this series when the first book came out in 1980 and picked the kindle version up on sale. The style of writing hasn’t really held up to today – it was very laborious and overly complex and hard to get into the plot because the dialogue goes on and on and on: it seemed as if I was just slogging along hour after hour and eventually I stopped. $25 down the drain!

Watch the movies instead, it's way better than the books. The book is too convoluted, the movie is simple and plausible...

This series is amazing. I truly recommend it. If you want thrilling spy books filled with excitement and lots of risks and adventure you have to read these books.

If I know that there's a movie based on a book, I'll try to watch the movie first. Reason being, for me anyway, is that the book is always better and it might jade my thinking and I'll be disappointed in a movie that I otherwise might've liked. The movie credits where Ludlum is mentioned is what actually turned me on to the Bourne novels. The books and the films differ, but I thoroughly enjoyed each respectively. I've seen the films countless times and it never gets old to me. I really enjoyed the novels too. Ludlum has become a literary hero to me. I've read several of his novels and some are better than others, but they never disappoint.

Perfect for anyone with a desire for the double/triple crossing nature of the life of a spy. Just so much going on and a real thrill to read.
