Ten apples up on top 5-6

I like this book very much as it is very simple with very nice colors. This book is teaching the children the numbers 1 to 10 in a very simple and interesting way which is very good for children who just started to learn the math concepts. This book teaches children how to challenge themselves also, when those animals are trying to put the apples on their head without giving up trying. I like also the rhythmic and the sequence of this story too such as “Apples apples up on top all of this must stop”.

Learning experience:
1-I can bring apples to the classroom and let the children pick any number they like to write it down on a piece of paper and then let them pick the apples based on what they wrote on their paper for example if one child wrote 4 apples on his paper he or she can pick 4 apples and so on

2-Print a boy or a girl shape and the apples of your choice. Write the alphabetical on the apples. Cut them out and laminate the pieces. Let the children put the boy or the girl on the floor and then have them put the apples on the head in alphabetical order

A dog, a lion, and a tiger have a competition to see who can stack 10 apples on their head. They all get to ten, but everyone in the town is determined to knock them off, so they start chasing them. Things start to get crazy and the animals are headed right for a truck load of apple running down hill. When they go barreling into the truck and the clutter clears, they all still have 10 apples atop their heads!!
Dr. Seuss always has great children's books that capture the attention of children. This story was fun and engaging, even for me! I loved this book and the illustrations were so colorful!
This book can be used when discussing counting or a great read aloud!!

A Balancing Act
21 February 2020 - Berri

tHere I am, sitting in a motel in the Riverland in South Australia with some time to kill before the local distillery opens. So, I did what I normally do when I have some time to kill and that is read a Dr Seuss book, and this was the one that was at hand.

tSo, we have three animals, a lion, a tiger, and a dog, who are having a competition to see how many apples that they can balance on their heads. Well, as you can probably guess, they manage to get to ten, but they don’t seem to push it any further than that. Well, I guess it might have something to do with annoying the people around them, because all of a sudden we have a bear with a mop chasing them out of the house, and some birds who are attempting to get a free meal.

tWell, this is your typical, and rather enjoyable, Dr Suess book. Yeah, it is nonsense, but he was the master of the nonsense rhyme, but not only that, but once again he shows his ability to create a beautiful poem, and one that can be appreciated by children. The rhyming is done in a way that doesn’t make it sound corny, and the meter is nothing short of perfect. In fact, I wonder whether he should be included in the list of all-time great English poets.

tActually, that makes me wonder whether I would actually get away with reading Dr Suess for poetry class in High School. I remember doing poetry back then, but for some reason, we always seem to go for the major poets like Shelly and Blake, among others. However, Dr Suess barely gets a mention, and honestly, he really should be up there among them. In fact, if you grab one of those compilations of poetry books you barely see him get a mention.

tHonestly, this is another reason why I would love to go back in time and redo year 12, if only to write essays on Dr Suess poems, and of course do art as well, just so that I could push the limits by presenting a signed urinal as my final project.

Classic Seuss uses apples, animals, and silly situations to keep track of those pesky numbers. Toddlers will giggle while learning counting.

I started with Oh, The Places You'll Go! then moved to reading other books from Dr.Seuss. Interestingly my neighbour's kid has also started reading one of his books. It was highly entertaining experience reading this book with him.

When you I read the book, I had no expressions. When my neighbour's kid was reading the book, the variety of expressions he gave was simply superb to watch.

Now I have a friend along with whom I can read story books. Time to get some more if this experience.

Second grade teachers used an animated video of this book to make the math lesson more fun. They used yellow and red apples to create different sums of ten. (Distance learning 2020)

“Nine is very good.
But then …
Come on and we,
will make it ten.”
