The first time I saw this book was in 2016 wrapped in wrapping paper when my sister tore of the wrapping . I had a look and started reading. It was very funny. But also a bit weird. But the only thing is my sister loved the book and could not stop read it and reading it.

Okay, I'm not ashamed to admit it- I stole this from my cousin. She didn't miss it as it was sneakily done. I had heard some raving reviews about this book from 'ole Goodreads and although as a child myself I was never a fan I thought I would give it a go. So, when I discovered the book and film The Grinch which is one of my favourites, and saw this book innocently laying on the table I thought that this was an opportunity to great to miss.

I read this book and although I enjoyed it very much it just didn't have the charm of the Grinch for me. Maybe it is for even younger children than the Grinch but there was just something missing. Don't despair though, it is still as clever as his other works and is still worth a read.

Personal response: I read this book to my little brother Wyatt and he said he liked it a lot. Wyatt said his favorite thing about the book was the pictures. He said to rate it three stars and I said five so we met in the middle and rated it four.

plot summary: This book is all about different kinds of fish, Red fish blue fish, old fish new fish. It also talks about what fish have, some have stars some have cars. it talks about there emotions, some are glad while others are sad. They talk about how they act, one is very very bad. this book then goes onto other animals, but the main idea is fish.

Recommendation: I say people who should read this book are kids around seven and under. Wyatt however said that everyone should read it because its a good book.

On Monday, on the BBC TV quiz ‘Only Connect’ there was a question where you had to guess the 4th in the sequence:

t[Michael Fish picture] [Michael Fish, Michael Fish] ? t?

Once my husband had identified Michael Fish (ex-TV metereologist), I knew the answer was “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish”, without having the faintest idea why. It just sounded right. The answer was then given, stating that it was a Dr.Seuss book.
Then on Tuesday, at the pub quiz, we had to decipher three book titles:
1 F, 2 F, R F, B Ftt(also S 5, and A T o 2 C)
There was that book again! I could not recall having read it, and my husband had never heard of it, so there was only one thing left to do. On Wednesday, I ordered a copy. It arrived on Friday, and now on Saturday I have read it and am writing my review.
I love it!
The illustrations are superbly fabulous, and the rhyming text anarchically silly. This is not a book to teach children about reality (it does have ‘lessons’ on counting and colours) – it is a book about the way words sound, and all the fun you can have with rhyming. Incidentally, it will help children learn to read, as they see how similar sounding words look similar too. But, for me, the pleasure of reading it, was in the way it sounded and looked.

e.g. “If you like to go Bump! Bump!
just jump on the hump of the Wump of Gump”

“if you wish to wish a wish,
you may swish for fish
with my Ish wish dish”

This is a great book for any child – whether they are reading for reading yet or not. It is also fun for middle-aged non-parents!
I will be passing this lovely book on to two of our pub quiz team mates who have a one-year-old child. It is never too early to start kids on books.

my favoirte of Seuss. It's of no plot, so there's the wonderland quality of just what's gonna happen next. Even after many reads, I really enjoy it because of the stream of thoughts, following no order, of interesting and DIVERSE (which he stresses) things of what you see throughout the day. There's the child's perception of "funny things" that is frank and genuine. Like wishing you had 11 fingers, or why do peole who can't read look at books, or imagining the fun in work (milking a cow, opening cans).

Lots of nouns and verbs and adjectives just moving meanings into the brain, try to think back to childhood when that still happened to you. Or those adults learning a new lanaguge now.

Making up words that automatically make sense is awesome to marvel, but even better to receive and believe as a reader.

Really wonderful to read out loud to kids, I think Suess is almost always meant to be spoken than to read to yourself. It all means something diffrent when the words are said than thought..

A bit slow in the beginning, but once you push through it’s a great read. Highly recommend.

Oh, how I wanted to actually meet these wondrous creatures from the amazing imagination of Dr. Seuss when I was little.
Matter of fact, there are a few of them I wouldn't mind having as pets even now.
