MY Favorite Dr. Suess book. I actually have the entire book memorized, my girls get a kick out of me reciting it! One of my many useless talents thank you! :)

I can't resist a Dr Seuss book and this board book is his usual quirky humour.

The fish are red, blue, old or new, sad or glad, Some are thin, some are fat and some even wear a yellow hat (surprise, surprise!)

The other bizarre animals have any number of feet and where they come from nobody knows. They too come in different shapes and sizes and some are fast, some are slow, some are high and some are low and the advice is to ask your mother about them!

And the children are to ask their mother about them before they go for a ride on their bike, pushed uphill by their pet animal, a Gox!! A what?...

Great fun with the usual delightful drawings.

Best book I've ever read. My son and I enjoyed it very much!

This is such a great beginner book for children. Lots of rhymes on every page. Very funny. Great pictures. Everything to make a great book for little ones. My children are older now and they still enjoy this story.

Another ball out of the canon from Dr. Seuss.

Simply remarkable with the tongue twister of a rhythm. Enjoyment knows no bounds and age is just a number. The tune of this poem is hard to get out of the head.

I am reading this to my kids. No more the simple 4 lines of Humpty Dumpty.

Dr. Seuss has arrived in their lives.

Whoa, this book rules!! There's so much imagination. I've had to read a lot of Dr Seuss to my kid in the past two years, and it's been really hit or miss. Sometimes you get something classic like Green Eggs and Ham and sometimes you get a crap show like Cat in the Hat 2.

So this one really surprised me! It was wonderful. My kid was riveted. Super fun.

I just saw this in a book box and got it to read to my dog. She loved listing to the book so much. Definitely the best one I have read to her!

2016 was not a great year for my CV, but If a CV allowed for you to list all of the texts you have memorized, this would be the one I am most proud of knowing by heart.

When my daughter came home from school today, she informed me that today (actually, yesterday, but that was a Sunday) was Dr. Seuss's birthday (he would've been 121), and that they had read this book in class. Since I've never written a review for it, I figured I might as well write one now.

While I prefer the Seuss books (and children's books in general) that have an underlying serious/important message underneath the silliness, there is definitely something to be said about foundational books that just make reading fun. This is definitely one of those books. The rhymes are simple and the content gets more and more ridiculous as it progresses.

Practically from the time she got home until she went to bed, my daughter was making up her own rhymes ("I wish I had a fish on a dish," "Don't bake a cake at the lake, for goodness sake!"), and that is what has convinced me to bump my rating up from four stars to five: It shows children how easy it is to rhyme (You can even make up your own words!) and inspires them to create.

So many good memories connected with this book...one of the books that helped me learn to read.
