While The Psychology of Winning is an older book (1979), its advice on creating a winning thought pattern, and winning life in turn, is timeless. With game changing steps on how to practice positive self-awareness, self-control, and self-projection, it is unlikely that one won't take at least a small amount away from this book that changes their life for the better. Just as the Author Dr. Denis Waitley suggests, this is a terrific book (of the same caliber as Think and Grow Rich or How to Win Friends and Influence People) that should not be read once and left destined to sit idly on the shelf, but to be read on a monthly or yearly basis to further entrench the positive and winning message found within.

One powerful and very interesting book full of principles which are already said once, twice. If they are said a lot of times, it's possible to be a lie but and in the same moment it's possible and not to be a lie. In one of the notes by Brian Johnson are share very interestitng stuff for the author Denis Waitley, like he is famous. He is studying this, he is person who influences people for such type of stuff and many other things!

Denis Waitley is a positive, concerned, get-to-it type 'A' author. He hits thirteen points on how to instill and enact a success mentality in place of a fear-of-failure mindset, and gives practical action to take on each point at chapter's end. If you're tired of making and missing goals, pick this book up and get energized with some 'P.O.W.'

The Psychology of Winning by Dr. Denis Waitley was a great non-fiction book that deserves five stars. It kept my attention and I enjoyed reading it because throughout my reading I was influenced to look over my life and review how I was living it. I learned many great things about how I can live a happier life and it was a very motivational book, which can prove to be a great book for practically anybody. I believe that everybody should read it if they'd like to see how he or she compares to Dr. Waitley's image of a winner or if someone just really needs help getting started in the right direction for leading a happy, successful life. I enjoyed it, and I know you will too. It's mostly minimalistic writing that conveys a great message that is fun and easy to read, so it's really a shame if you don't at least give this book a look.

A quick-reading collection of Big Ideas from an old-school self-development rock star.

“The term ‘Winning’ may sound phony to you. Too materialistic. Too full of A’s, or luck, or odds, or muscle-bound athletes. True winning, however, is no more than one’s own personal pursuit of individual excellence. You don’t have to knock other people down or gain at the expense of others. ‘Winning’ is taking the talent and potential you were born with, and have since developed, and using it fully toward a goal or purpose that makes you happy.”

~ Dr. Denis Waitley from The Psychology of Winning

Winning. No need to get all up in your stuff if the word doesn’t appeal to you.

Let’s think of it as our “personal pursuit of individual excellence.” That approach reminds me of the fact that in ancient Greece guys like Socrates, Plato and Aristotle said that if we wanna experience consistent happiness we need to live with what they called “Areté”—a word that literally translates as “excellence” or “virtue” but has a deeper meaning, something closer to striving to live at your highest potential.

Love that. Winning as Areté in action.

Back to The Psychology of Winning. Denis Waitley is an old-school self-development rock star and this book is a quick-reading collection of Big Ideas.

Some of my favorite big ideas from this book include:

1. How Are You Taking It? - The #1 factor.
2. An Inventory BAG - Fill it up! :)
3. Stay on Target & Score a hit.
4. How’s Your Motive? - Is it yours?
5. Butterflies and Moths - Pretty and not so much.
6. Personal Optimism - And enthusiasm.
7. Concentrate - All your energy.
8. Planning Our Ideal Lives - What’s yours?

I’ve summarized those Big Ideas in a video review that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/s100IK3SRbg?si=TkAoa...

And I’ve added The Psychology of Winning by Denis Waitley to my collection of Philosopher’s Notes--distilling the Big Ideas into 6-page PDF and 20-minute MP3s on 600+ of the BEST self-development books ever. You can get access to all of those plus a TON more over at https://heroic.us.

Very good insights about the ‚winner psychology‘.
It‘s a short book packed with helpful tips. Some exercises and approaches sound a bit too easy, which are actually quite difficult in real life - like changing your self image/ self esteem. All in all there is probably something valuable in the book for everyone.

Funny btw that he advices trying to sleep less, like only 5 to 6 Hours per Night. Pretty much in opposition to what Many People claim to be essential for a healthy and successfull Life - enough and Restful sleep. It just Came my mind. Still a Great Book :D

Excellent information. In my top 5 of books and I have a lot of books. You have to do more that just want to win. Time is of the essence and we must decide what we are doing with our time. There is only time to win but no time to lose. This book is certainly a gem.
