Appreciative and thankful for the attempt to list and categorize dreams. Unfortunately, many of us have dreams that cannot be found in the book. Sometimes a dream could be categories in two different areas and the interpretation is too vague or confusing to make any sense. Perhaps, another follow-up edition is needed.
This book provides a guide to pinpoint the two inversely proportional forces that affect all of life. Great book to read if you know what to look for and I do not think it was meant to be read in a day. It was probably meant to be read in a year.
Of course, you can't believe everything you read. This book has a great mix of interpretations complete with appealing photos. I've used this book well over the years and I can't think of one dream that I've remembered to not be in this book. Which is quite impressive to me.
If you want to have fun - get this book! After awakening and remembering your dream you can look up the true meaning of the dream and see what is really on your mind. So many times I had to laugh at how my mind turned my daily problems into a comical dream. The only negative aspect is that some nights I don't dream!
Probably a lot of fluff here. 12,000 examples of it. Probably isn't the best book of all time. But in this instance, in this very speck of time, it is an interesting read. A glossary of possibility. And while it could've stayed as just that, it goes above and beyond to also explain the different categories of dreams and why we have them.
It's good for quick reference if meanings are fuzzy. Was better when I was a teenager & struggled working out my own brain. Not so useful now I'm all grown & have my own family & new worries.
This book was updated from 10k dreams to 12k dreams. I bought the 12k that was published in 2011, despite only buying the book last year new so I thought this was the most updated book out there. Little did I know that the dreams I had, most aren't even words in this book. I had vivid dreams of orcas. No list of orcas. Okay how about killer whales? No, none of that. Okay then, just whales. They have only mention of whales swimming near ships or sinking ships as described. Nothing about whale watching. And that's one latest example of not finding words I'm looking for. These are just recent examples.
Some of my dreams involve cats. Apparently they're bad omens in this book. Yet somehow the K.K.K is listed in this book. Or something random like a Truss. I bet you don't know what the heck that is. Or outdated like Typhoid fever. Yes this is in the book. And when I had a dream of Elves, guess what, no Elves or Elf.
But when I can find the words I'm looking for, it seems somewhat reflective of what I'm experiencing in real life. It's kind of freaky sometimes how exactly some of my real life senarios are with what I dream about. Tho the book is vague, some words actually go into great details of different vision meanings. An example of a big one is the word Horse. I also like that the book has * with "see ___" to give you a similar word that might be closer to what you were thinking of. This book also has actions defined. So if you're doing something, like say for instance Hurting is in here, you can see what the type of meaning behind your dreams action means. "To hurt a person in your dreams, you will do ugly work, avenging and injuring" is an example from that word.
The book itself is nothing grand. It's simple and does the job. I just wish that there were more words. 3/5.
This book is fun.. a good “coffee table book”, prompts interesting discussions if explored with others!! I have a copy from 1989, so it’s been around for a while!!!!
