Lasky keeps things moving along in this great fourth volume in the series, as Soren and his mates go undercover at the evil St. Aggie's School for Orphaned Owls, and then into full battle mode as Soren's evil brother Kludd leads an attack on the Great Ga'Hoole Tree. This one also introduces Kludd's mate, the Lady Macbethish Nyra. Thrills, chills and lots to think about.
This is by far the best of the series, yet. Lasky stops with the over-re-explaining of things and focuses on the action, the character development, and the intrigue. I finished in a day as it was super short (kid book, after all) but very powerfully driven. I had to know what happened next!
Man these are marketed as for kids?? I read this when I was a preteen?? This shit is brutal. At that age I absolutely did not understand what happened with Nyra and Kludd; I feel like that would've stuck with me if I did, memory issues be damned. Absolutely fuck wild.
I swear these books keep getting better and better with each installment that comes my way. While it is still plagued by the need to remind us about stuff we already know, the positives outnumber the negatives, with some character development. I hope my gurl Otulissa will be okay. She has seen some serious sh*t lately!
The story is still gripping with some good action, and this time lots of battles to be fought and won come the next installments, as it left on a very eerie cliffhanger. I keep enjoying these books every time I read another, so nothing more to say but bring on the next one!
This is it. This is the book where everything is coming to a head. Kludd has grown and his hatred has festered, he's found a mate, Nyrah, who feeds his violent tendancies. Soren and his band are now trapped in the tree slowly being starved out. I am so excited to see how these two brothers battle it out.
Soren and his friends are sent on a special mission to a place Soren and Gylfie thought they would never see again, St.Aggies school for orphaned owls. This book was great especially the siege of Hoole when its the guardians versus the pure ones. It was really funny when Otulissa throws a dead ground squirrel in Dewlaps face and says "splink on you" - the worst word an owl could say!!! If you have read the other books you how proper Otulissa is.
