I liked bits of this book but I really hated others. I disliked almost all the characters, to the point where I really hated the central female character to quite a spectacular degree. Her confidence blasted straight past arrogance and landed somewhere in ‘fucking-full-of-herself’ and the men were not much better.

Some of the sexual descriptions were pretty hot but there was a lot of unsafe sex practices, not least of which was the BDSM scene which was dubcon to say the least and in which the character who was the sub had a safe word but then was promptly gagged leaving them completely unable to use it should they have to.

I was just very disappointed because this could have been so good but just wasn’t.

First be forewarned, this books is NOT for the faint of heart!

This book was SUPER HOT! and somewhat believeable in the sense that the characters didn't get together the middle of the plot to save the world! They were just roommates for a while who eventually find themselves in a steamy menage et trois. Emma Holly's sex scenes are always pretty amazing and she did not disappoint in this book either!

WOW! Talk about HOT! Definately not for the faint of heart.

This was my first MMF book (not understanding the difference between MFM and MMF) so I was not really expecting what I found with this book. Glad I made the mistake...it has definately opened up a whole new world for me!

I found this book to be well written with good plot and character development. I quickly warmed up to all the characters, and the herione was strong. (I hate a whinny herione!) The plot was believable and it worked. I would definately recommend this to anyone who reads this kind of erotica.

Very British even though it was set in Philadelphia. Also Joe's character development was strange. It was like we never really got to know him and then suddenly he was this strong Dom personality.

I don't review the majority of the books I read, but when a story really grabs my interest and attention it seems a good thing to let others in on the secret. Ménage by Emma Holly is something special.

While the title of the book broadcasts the theme, after what seems like an abrupt start, the main characters (Kate, Sean and Joe) fall into a believable rhythm. The erotic scenes were well integrated to the storyline; perfectly mixing kinky, sweaty sex with the daily lives of the characters. Some of the fantasy passages are well worth a second (or 26th) re-read.

Although told from Kate's perspective, the dynamic of a true triad comes through. Each character is intimately and emotionally involved with the others. The characters are flawed but written realistically enough not to require suspension of disbelief. I found the storyline deeply satisfying as the roller coaster ride progressed to a surprising but happy conclusion.

I enjoyed this one a great deal and would happily recommend it to others. It's one of the better selections and makes it likely I've adopted a new author.

This book is set in Philadelphia but is written as though it's set in London. British English spelling and grammar and even speech patterns. Additionally, there's dubcon kink. It's dubcon when you have ZERO discussion of limits or desires. Giving someone a safeword is BARELY enough, so half a star for that. Additionally, the characters were beyond absurd. Caricatures of some sort of people. And in the 6 months timeline at the end of the book is so insanely fast for the professional AND personal development. Add in the gag-worthy OTT language (ie quivering quims), and this didn't even work as spank bank material. Which, let's be honest, is all I was hopeful for.

I had to come back and give this one 4 stars. I originally gave it three and I can't remember why - but I do know that this story has stuck with me. All three main characters are really well drawn, and the way the relationship between all of them develops is quite believable (and hot). There are definitely some scenes here that I find myself returning to.

I'm not really sure of what to make of this book. The story line was weak and there were parts of the story that just didn't make sense. I will say that I did appreciate not having yet another weak-minded female who bends over backwards at the will of a man. Kate does what she thinks is the best for Joe and you have to give her props for that. The saving grace for this book were the incredibly hot and erotic sex scenes. I paid $9.99 for this book --- way, WAY overpriced for what you get!

plain and simply put, there really isn't a storyline. this is just a book about people having sex. The only storyline that really got anywhere was near the end and it just kind of ended, which was disappointing.

This title has been on my list to read for a long time. It was iffy because of some other reviews. But I finally dove in and what the hell did I just read? It’s a rollercoaster for sure, and while I think it ends up being one of the more realistic ménage books I’ve read - there was also something missing that kept me from really knowing the only character whose voice we heard. It’s told in first person from the heroine’s point of view. The two guys are different. Both are grad students but we’re never told what Joe is studying. Until he suddenly writes a musical and then winds up performing in it. That was a bit of a disconnect, going from student to star.

The age difference is ten years. She’s 33 and the men are 23. Never an issue until permanency is broached. Isn’t that hypocritical?

Plenty of Brit words when the setting was Philadelphia USA, such as accountancy, labourer, fringe, arse, draught, practise, porridge, pyjamas, millimetre, etc. There were even made up words like lubricious. I might have to start using that though. And misused words like “carnivorous treat” - is the treat a carnivore?

Apart from that there were several shocks to the system. And they were shocking because they weren’t set up properly. Either before, so the actions would be in character, or after, so they’d be palatable.

What was the shock? The dominance portions. The first scene shows her sniffing a jock and calling that “too kinky.” Then we progress to being body painted, taken out in public, and engaging in what can only be called tame group sex. Everyone was touching at one point but the trio go solo(?) at one point. Still, the involvement of the two other people was just bizarre and added nothing to the storyline.

Why didn’t I stop reading? Because the heroine said:

“I despised them all; yet I wanted to screw them all.”

Obviously we gotta find out where the train wreck comes to a full and complete stop.

I’d never heard of Strawbridge & Clothier - but it closed in 2006. Woolworth’s closed in 1997. This book is 1998 so keep that in mind.

The bizarro fulfillment of endlessly horny characters does actually make sense by the end. I’m going to leave off the sex descriptions. Just picture two guys walking around with constant erections and you’re off to a good start. Another review covers it all very well - look for the spoiler alert review.

“You were afraid to give your body and heart to the same man. So you let Sean master one and me the other. You kept yourself safe that way. But safe isn't good enough any more.”

But it’s a rocky road to get to that point and we’re left wondering a bit if they aren’t all going to take up again despite the window dressing of normalcy in the last chapter.

I’m not sure what the heroine learned from the process. We aren’t privy to her internal dialogue regarding Joe like we are regarding Sean.

There is a breakup during which one of the guys sleeps around. This is after he declares his love and also fully intends to win her back - so I count that as cheating.

In sum it had a bit of a sex scenes around which a loose plot is filled in sort of feel to it. Kind of cold. I never felt broken up over the break up like I should have so I’d be pulling for them to get back together. Instead, I wanted her to backhand him and walk off. That’s not the reaction you want in your reader so - like I said above - it missed the mark for me.
