Импулсивната покупка на книги е тръпка, от която отърване няма – без значение дали у дома те чакат стотици непрочетени, а в офиса си заринат в още повече потенциални и бъдещи заглавия. По принцип подминавам такъв тип книги, леконравни жълтуревини за “забранени” открития, конспирации и загадки са интересни, като си под или около 20-годишен, но ако продължаваш да си с “отворен” ум и насетне, значи по-вероятно мозъкът ти е изпаднал някъде по пътя (или поне умението да мислиш критично). И все пак си взех “Моите изобретения” на Никола Тесла, макар липсата на посочен преводач да ме озадачи неимоверно. Сетне наличието на куп грешки ми напомни защо не си купувам книги от тоя порядък, но няма значение, самият текст си струва четенето. Книгата няма да допадне на тези, които искат да вярват, че Тесла е бил жертва на заговор от лошите (правителство, конкуренция, сами изберете какво), които са искали да му попречат да осигури вечна безплатна енергия за цялото човечество. Но в нея има прекрасни неща, част от които дори преписах, за да онагледя.

Truly strange. This book gave me a head start in understanding how americans do business. It also shocked me on the ways Edison used to do business.

A very pompous account of Tesla’s brilliance and accolades. Still super interesting, and had cool stories from his childhood.

Dude had range, and predicted WW2 in 1919

It proves that geniuses need to be slightly mad...

Дуже цікава автобіографічна книга геніального винахідника Ніколи Тесли. Коротенька розповідь автора про своє життя та винаходи. Особливо мене вразило це те, як Тесла важко працював і мав неймовірний хист до візуалізації свої експериментів, що послугувало йому до багатьох винаходів та відкриттів. Тесла заслужено вважається одним з найталановитіших винахідникім всіх часів. Повністю з цим згоден.

Very interesting autobiographical book of the genius inventor Nikola Tesla. A brief account of the author's life and inventions. Especially impressed me was how Tesla worked hard and had an incredible ability to visualize his experiments, which served him with many inventions and discoveries. Tesla deservedly considered one of the most talented inventors of all time. I fully agree with this.

No podemos negar el genio de Nikola Tesla; su interpretación de la realidad para querer transformarla a través de sus inventos y querer donar a la humanidad energía gratuita de por vida: adivinen, murió en la ruina por ello. Pero antes de ello quiso dejar sobre el papel, y en sus palabras que fue de sus experiencias que lo llevaron a convertirse en el hombre que fue. Encontramos en sus páginas la exageración de alguien que se ve a sí mismo como alguien extraordinario, dejando entrever muchas anécdotas como si fuesen protagonizadas por un ser demasiado especial para ser real, quizás de verdad ocurrieron, pero usa una pluma narrativa muy buena como para creer en la total verosimilitud de lo contado.
Sin embargo, al contar de sus experimentos entramos en otra tipo de relación con el texto: imaginó una especie de pantalla que permitiera transmitir imágenes (él las asociaba a los sueños), aparatos pequeños que permitirían comunicarse a gran distancia, gracias a sus experimentos con la energía eléctrica y así. Quedarás fascinada o fascinado con esas ideas que estaban en su cabeza 50 años antes que se pensarán a penas sus primero modelos.
Una lectura muy rápida, pero entretenida. Aunque debemos guardar la distancia con un personaje que se parece hoy mucho a ese magnate que lo único que quiere es conquistar el espacio, y en ello piensa ser alguien superior.

Tesla could be considered a typical genius - he had a sharp mind, but not without certain quirks (an aversion to pearls, for example). This book is a collection of anecdotes from both his youth and adult life which exhibits his technical mind.
One strange paragraph appears in this book, where Tesla makes the claim that the world will know peace when the races of man merge together and that there is in fact just one race, of many colours. It's safe to say that modern society has proven this theory of his to be quite the fallacy.

Although the technical aspects of the various inventions and discoveries outlined are currently over my head, I benefited tremendously from Tesla’s highlighted robust imagination and work ethic.

Tesla narrates various anecdotes from his rather eventful life and career giving readers glimpses of his remarkable mind, acute senses, amazing ability to visualise, curiosity, indefatigable working capacity, and inventive tendencies, besides his rather remarkable family. These qualities and abilities (some, at least) were both a blessing and a curse allowing him to see and dream of things that ordinary mortals can’t but at the same time which did not let him have the most comfortable of existences. And if astounding his readers with his feats weren’t enough, Tesla shows in an instance or two that he can also bring a smile to our faces.

Tesla’nın anlatımıyla hayatını okumak güzeldi. Müzesini gezdikten sonra merak ettiğim bir kitaptı. Tavsiye ederim.
