Ok, so now I'm starting to get the attraction to Evanovich - this was much better than 'Full Blast'. I'll definitely try more in the Stephanie Plum series. They are not deep thriller mysteries, but quick reads with enough to keep you interested. More because of the characters than because of the plot.

I'm horrible with reviews and I'm sorry about that... but none the less here we go...

At first glance reading this seemed daunting. The main character seemed to be something you would expect to see on MTV's Jersey Shore, however my opinion of her quickly changed as she fought harder and harder to prove not only to her high school flame, and family, but herself; that she could do her job and do it well. While yes there were moments in the story lines I found myself being 'bored' over all these books were pretty good and kept me hooked enough to complete the first three... Will I continue the series? possibly.

FYI: I kept the review vague as I'm notorious at giving spoilers lol

Grandma! She makes these books for me every time! Don't get me wrong, I love Stephanie and lets not get into which stud I prefer but Grandma is a hoot and I love every scene that involves her. Always waiting to see what she does or what comes out of her mouth. Fun books!

I selected this for a book club intro package, knowing nothing whatsoever about Evanovich or Plum.

What a delightful, refreshing surprise! I long ago tired of both the earnest, hard-working, well-meaning, clean-living devoted wife & mom (Faye Kellerman) and the confused, vulnerable, dysfunctional yet persistent damsel just waiting for the sexy antihero to complete her (Tami Hoag).

No, Stephanie Plum is something else entirely, and I love her. She's a Jersey Girl (which is just one step removed from a Long Island girl, which is where my roots are).

Blue-collar Stephanie has a loving yet remote and silent father; a meddling, narrow-minded yet fiercely protective mother, and best of all, an absolutely over-the-top, brilliant grandmother, who thinks nothing of shooting the "gumpy" off a roast chicken at the dinner table as she tries out her granddaughter's gun.

Stephanie also has the perfect pet, a hamster named Rex, who offers silent counsel from the soup can where he lives. Stephanie needs the protective family, the gun, and the moral support -- all she can get, in fact, because her not-quite-chosen career is bounty hunter.

Stephanie would still be "a discount lingerie buyer for E.E. Martin's" if they hadn't had the bad taste to lay her off. Faced with the prospect of having to pawn all her furniture and appliances or go to work at "the button factory," she instead applies for a job at the office of her very sleazy cousin Vinnie, a bail bondsman. File-clerk opportunities in Vinnie's office are limited and quite unappealing, but Stephanie is offered the chance to go after an "FTA" - Failure to appear. The monetary rewards have the potential to be quite lucrative, depending on the amount of bond posted.

The drawbacks? "Sometimes they don't want to be found, and they shoot at you," she is told. "But that hardly ever happens."

A great deal happens to Stephanie in Evanovich's first three novels, One for the Money, Two for the Dough, and Three to Get Deadly. All of them feature, to one extent or another, her police paramour, Joe Morelli. She and Joe do everything from share pizza and beer over a televised Rangers game to steam up the windows of a vintage Buick.

Stephanie is not shy, not terribly sweet, and far from innocent. As the series continues, she becomes a seasoned bounty hunter. Still, she never stops wondering how all of this happened to her.

Some of the scenes and dialogue in Janet Evanovich's first three books have me laughing out loud, especially the Cluck in a Bucket arrest in Three to Get Deadly. I'd love to meet her main characters in person.

At the same time, I first read these books when they came out thirty years ago, and while I am enjoying revisiting them, the derogatory comments about the LGBTQ community and the treatment of gun violence as a constant source of hilarity have been more jarring this time around.

I started to read these on a beach trip with my mom since she had read the first 7 and had them with her. I read through all my books so I started on these. They are very easy to read so I went through them very quickly the first 5 or six were not that bad, but after six the writing and story plot is stale and boring to say the least. I have not read a series of books since Sweet Valley High and The Babysitters Club. At least those were still interesting after six. Unfortunately I kept reading them hoping they would get better. After sixteen I stopped, there is no hope for this series or this author. It was nice though to have a book to discuss with my mom, which is why I continued to read them. Even that cannot make me read anymore, they are just too painful to read.

Just finished book 1 2 and 3. The third book wow. I'm waiting for plum and morelli. It's gonna happen. Their chemistry is insane. I'm really enjoying this series. The action. The quirks. Plums antics. Loving this. ❤️

I have actually read the entire series....yep all the way through to 21!
Originally I loved the series....I found them funny and dare I say..cute? They were incredibly helpful in helping me get through a difficult time in my life...I oddly could relate to Stephanie Plum. But over time...there is just so much you can do with Stephanie. Don't misunderstand I love the character and many of the plots...but I'm rather tired of reading about her. Although with my personality....I have to keep reading...as I'm a bit OCD... so as more come out...I will read them. After all...maybe Stephanie Plum will start to surprise me?!

This is the only trashy romance you'll catch me reading, and while its no classic, Morelli's smolder, Lula's state of delusion, and grandma Mazur's never ending antics will keep you coming back...besides, Stephanie is an accident waiting to happen, she keeps her gun in the cookie jar... But it's never loaded, and she has worse luck with cars than I do! Yay!

I really enjoy the Stephanie Plum Cozy Mysteries. My mother read all of them and recommended them to me.
