The format of this book is not your typical autobiography as different people add their insight and thoughts into each segment of Walter Payton's life. This is a great book but he was a great man. Not just a great football player; although, he was that, too. It was wonderful to hear about how he lived life to the fullest and with a desire to glorify God and to help his fellowman. He fought with courage and didn't blame anyone for the tragedies that occurred in his life. It's how we should all live.

This was a great book that highlighted everything else that you didn't know about Sweetness. Many people remember Payton for his immaculate moves on the football field but, not many know what happened off the field. This book will show you that Walter Payton was not only a football man but also, a family man, a businessman, a racecar driver, and a great friend. The book is written using personal anecdotes from people that were close to Walter. Overall, this is a great book to read whether you are a sports fan or just a reader looking for the perfect opportunity to get to know a well-respected man.

Walter Payton is arguably one of the greatest football players to ever play, he also easily is one of the best athletes of all time. A man that decided to never "die easy." The book deals with themes like athletics, determination, passion, heart, and many similar themes. This story really gives an in depth look behind Payton and how he was such a successful football player. The book does not shy away from issues Payton had but inspires readers that they can do anything they want if they truly work for it. As a future teacher, this book would be great to implement within a classroom as many students may find Payton's story interesting. I really don't have any critiques about the book and like the way it was written. A 10/10 book that i'd recommend too anybody, especially those interested in Walter Payton, sports, or simply need some inspiration.

Everyone knows about Walter Payton, the hall of fame football player. They know that for years he single handedly carried the Chicago Bears on his back all the while working his way towards becoming the NFLs all time leading rusher. But the fans could not know the man Walter Payton, the father Walter Payton, the man under the football player.

This book is made up of thoughts, feelings and quotes of Payton's closest friends and family members as well as himself. It is insightful and emotional. These are people that cared for him deeply and it shows. Beginning with his childhood and progressing to his death, this book covers a lot. It was origionally started as his autobiograhpy but unfortunately he passed away before it's completion. So they added the perspectives of his friends and family, in their own words to round the book out.

I remember Walter Payton, the football player, and was a fan. I now know Watler Payton the man, and must say that I am a fan. He was an outstanding individual. Read this book and you will see a refreshing look at a professional athlete and a refreshing look on life and death. Walter Payton is truly a man to remembered.

Bottom line - you can't go wrong with this book. Read it an enjoy.

The toughest guy in the history of the NFL. Also one of the kindest and humblest. This is the blueprint for what every coach wants his players to be.

I really enjoyed reading about the life of Walter Payton. It did, however feel rushed. Sadly, this is due to the early passing of Payton. It is a good insight into Payton’s early years and his final days on earth.

If you ever need to know what it takes to become a legendary athlete Walter Payton’s story has the honest answer. I discovered the reason he became an outlier from the rest of the NFLs running backs. His work ethic was unreal, routinely training until he vomited! His story is a testament to the claim that hard work beats talent. What I didn’t expect to learn however, is the impact a sports player can have on a community. Saying he was an inspiration throughout Chicagoland is an understatement considering his playing on the field, charitable personality off the field, and loyalty to the Bears. I now have to read Barry Sanders bio to remain loyal to the Detroit Lions
