3⭐️; this was definitely my least favorite. i just didn’t like the escapades they seemed lower stakes than the others and there wasn’t enough introduction of more interesting characters. i think it def didn’t hit the mark like the others did, it felt a bit repetitive and kinda long winded for a small pay off.

Watch out!The Clique is back and bigger then ever. This suspenseful book is filled with lying, cheating and most of all, girls trying to claw their way to the top

When Claire Lyons comes back in a shower of fame and adorers, Massie Block couldn't be more irritated. This, with the combined weight of the Kristen,Dylan, and Alicia , is driving her onto the edge of insanity.

But all changes when Skye Hamilton, soon-to-be-highschooler, dancer and alpha of Octavian County Day school and leader of the DSL Daters, sends the Clique and a few other girls a CD-ROM. It contains information about a contest, to find "The room". The "room", was a room that the principal had forgotten about, a secret room that only alphas are worthy to enter. Usually the key is handed down from alpha to alpa, but it changes now.Skye is holding a contest to find a key to the room. The key is under a bed of a highly respected Briarwood boy, whom Skye has a crush on

Its a race for alphas as Massie and friends run around and go to Briarwood's boys houses to find the key.During this, Claire has meeting with the director of Dial L for losers, The hit movie Claire was the star in, is prepping her for an audition that requires Claire to wear fake eyebrows and horrible wigs, and having to ditch the Pretty Commitee for the meetings. Until Claire can't take it anymore and quits. But by then its too late, she has been expelled from the group, effective immediately. But with the help of Layne Abeley, her eccentric best friend, she finds the key and demands to be reinstated into the Clique, in exchange for the key. They agree and The Clique wins the contest and have access to the room. But when they actually see the room, it's something you wouldn't believe

Lisi Harrison wrote a book similar to the movie "Mean Girls", describing Massie's ambition and Claire's happiness of finally being accepted into the world of fashion. I really felt the way Massie did when she was running around trying to find the key, her frustration, and trying to find hope, but having to fail.Especially her anger when Claire would ditch them in her most needed moments.I believe it takes place in Manhattan,New York, somewhere around 2002-2009.Massie Block has that tireless ambition to win and be on top constantly, even if it means hurting others, even her friends. She is daughter of William and Kendra Block, she desperately wants to be normal, but at her school, she is expected to be perfect and fabulous 24/7 is her burden. I like how Lisi Harrison described Massie's emotions,by making references to designer brands, makeup, and products and everything fabulous. But what I don't like how in the end, its a clifhanger about the "room", and how insecure The Clique is,by putting people down to feel better about themselves.

I believe Lisi Harrison chose "It's not easy being mean", because in her titles she makes references to famous sayings, books, and movies, such as "It's not easy being mean", the original was "It's not easy being green", by Kermit the frog. And "These boots are made for stalking, is really,"These boots are made for walking, the song. I also believe she chose that title, to show, how it's not easy being mean to keep your popularity status/reputation, and how it's not easy doing what Massie does.

A great book filled with fighting, finding, and catfights, and most of all, Cliquetorship!

Massie Block: Getting back into Octavian Country Day was a piece of sugar-free cake, compared to Massie's next goal-finding the key that unlocks an ah-mazing legendary secret room at OCD! Alpha eighth grader Skye Hamilton and her clique have stashed the key in the bedroom of one mystery Briarwood boy, but who? Whoever finds the key gets access to the secret room for an entire year and the prestige that comes along with it. But what happens when LBR Layne seems to be getting closer? This is way more than a matter of life or death, it's a matter of in or out!
Kristen Gregory: Always been a star on the soccer field, but her style gets majorly cramped when her friends are forced to join the team. They better start kicking those soccer balls or Kristen's going to start kicking some . . . !
Alicia Rivera: Uses her skills as a gossip reporter to scheme her way into the rooms of all the Briarwood hotties!
Dylan Marvil: Heard depression makes people lose weight. Is hoping for some sad news soon because she's popping donut holes the way some people pop Tic-Tacs.
Claire Lyons: Being famous isn't all it's cracked up to be! Her agent confiscates her gummies, and forces her to do some very bad things to make her more "edgy." Worst of all, her constant meetings with lawyers and movie execs are eating into her time with the P.C. and with Cam! Is being a Hollywood starlet worth the Gucci-high price tag?

Its not easy being mean. A series written by Lisi Harrison. This is a book about a girl named Massie Block. She needs to get a secret key to go to this room for a whole entire year. Now she needs to decide that since she is so close does she want to live or die. Her friend Kristen Gregory is a good soccer player and is willing to help her if she needs her to. Alicia Rivera is also a friend and she has a plan on what she is going to do. Dylan Marvil heard and now he wants to go on the quest as well. Now they are off and on their way. I like this book because it has a mystery type genre. I like mystery genres because they always have a cliff hanger in the middle of the book and want you to keep reading until you finish the book and it makes you go to the next book even. I also like this book because they are teenagers. When books are about teenagers they make me feel like I am in the book literally. I really connect with this book especially because of that reason. Another reason that I like this book is her friend plays soccer. I also connect with this book when there are sports involved because in my life I play sports and I really enjoy books that have sports in them. One more reason that I like this book is, it does not swear. Books that swear make me feel uncomfortable because I don't enjoy that language. This is an interesting book because it has so many genres and it blends together well. A theme that I got out of this book was to never give up on anything. Because she never gave up and had an interesting ending!!

Just as great as the last Clique book I read...BUT BETTER! In this book, Lisi Harrison added a cool kind of mystery, detective twist. You just HAVE to read it to understand 1. How good it is and 2. what the mystery detective twist is!

yes Claire, by all means quit your budding acting career for Massie and her never-ending bullsh*t ☠️ (reading this as an adult is a TRIP).

I liked this way better than the last book, but still, I wish the entire Pretty Committee had been working together! Ever since Claire officially joined, I hate when the other four make fun of her and exclude her. I feel like the story goes back to square one.

However, I’m so glad they made up, and I’m interested in what the room is, and how TPC will make it their own.

This book was so good i read it in hours. Mostly because i had nothing to do. In this book the pretty committee had to find a key so when they got to the 8th grade they would be the new alphas. Claire went to another audition for a movie named princess nobody. she got the part but quit because she wanted to stay with her friends, boyfriend, and school. In the end it was an LBR(Loser Beyond Repair), in the pretty committee's words, who found the key. Her name is Layne, and she just happened to be Claire's first friend in the school.
she then negotiated with the pretty committee, and gave them the keys.

SKYE HAMILTON STANS RISE!! This book leaves its predecessor in the dust. It’s fast paced, it’s funny, it gives Layne a chance to be the hero, Massie the vulnerability she needs, Claire a chance to have autonomy, and finally gets rid of Olivia as alicia’s friend.
