My niece asked me to read this with her. My place in the in the i-love-you-this-much sacrificial aunt category is now firmly secure.

Absolutely my least favorite so far. Massie icing out Claire bc she got that part in the movie? What a twat. In books 2-4 you really think Claire & Massie are molding into actual BFFs & then Lisi turns massie into a real female dog. Disappointing.

I really loved this book, and the Clique series in general. Each book has something new and different, and I love how you really get to know the characters. I can't pick a favorite, though. But I do love Massie's confidence and leadership skills, Alicia's brilliant beta ability, Dylan's sense of humor, how Kristen's always down to earth, and how Claire made a new life for herself in a new place. When you read the Clique series, you (or me anyway) often feel like your part of them. I like how you get to know all the different characters, but there isn't a chapter for just Alicia's thoughts, or just Massie's. This is a great book for girls in middle or high school who love relatable books, and sticking with the characters. (And those who like a few cat fights, too.)

The book its not easy being mean is a classic book for young girls going into young adult hood. The book is full of adolescent interest, drama being the main thing. The title doesn't lie either, the main character Massi and her clique conquer all evil and all things mean. With this scavenger hunt. The young girls, while young and mean ,are powerful and one might hope they will become exceptional young women, because truly it is not easy being mean.
