"'Rumor has it there's a secret room at OCD the teachers forgot about, and the alpha eighth grader has the key'"

A key, a list of boys, an eighth-grade clique, a secret room, and soccer punishment.

This book felt like a side-quest. I guess it kind of is, as it leads into the next one, but it felt like a spin-off of the series. Maybe compared to the dense plot of the last book, it just had more filler. But it was entertaining. Even if I don't remember much of it.

Skye Hamilton is an interesting character (who's popped out of nowhere) with her love of Hershey kisses and ballet. It was refreshing to see someone intimidate Massie instead of seeing her punt everybody around again.

It was pretty averag as far as the The Clique series goes. I liked it a lot, and the plot was fantastic! I like the character development or Claire and how her relationship with Massie changes and further develops. It was pretty good overall, but I really want to find out what the room is like in the next book!

I don't know why, but I just couldn't get into this one. I may be a little burnt-out from the sheer amount of Clique books I've been reading, but mainly the plot in this one was just kind of dull. It could've been really exciting and I remembered thinking the twist with the kiss was funny when I was 12, but the whole storyline about Claire potentially leaving was just boring and detracted from the story as a whole. Everyone just kind of sucked in this book overall. Hopefully the next book picks up again.

So having read seven Clique books, it's only fair that I leave a review! My first impression of this series was that it was a fun pseudo-gossip girl that I could enjoy while waiting for my ankle to heal. Well it was fun and it's grown on me.

The first book seemed like a very serious attempt at classifying every Westchesterite as either snobby and rich or snobby and pretentious, Massie being the worst of them all. But after a while, the stories focused less on the nose jobs and cars and more on the girls who actually have VERY rich characters. They are all equally well rounded and I would enjoy following their stories individually. And then I realized something that I can't believe I didn't notice at first; I lived this! Yes, while going to an all-girls prep school and worrying everyday about your outfit and the cost of your manicure, it was significantly less glamorous, it was also quite as real as Harrison describes it. And after I got over my initial upset at having my county described so flippantly (lol), I enjoyed the story which took me back to the days when LBR was in fact a classification that was feared like the plague and you were judged by the car your driver came to pick you up in. Such little bratlings we were, our biggest worry, where we would go away to that summer.

But the best part of these books would have to be Lisi Harrison's engaging rhetoric. It's real and funny and you feel like you're sitting in Massie's iPad with the girls and making lists about what to wear in the new school year. This was fun and I'm going to check out the movie since, apparently, I can't seem to get enough!

"It’s Not Easy Being Mean" isn’t such a good book I believe. I didn't like it because the book is mainly for girls to read. Although I gave this book three stars, the book caught my attention in some parts. The book had some suspense for example when Alicia finds a key that is important and doesn't know what to do. I also didn't enjoy the book because the book was just too simple. It was mainly about girls fighting over popularity and boys. I thought those parts were boring. This book is mostly for girls to read. I wouldn't recommend this book for guys to read because it’s mostly about gossip and popularity and boys. I would recommend this book for girls because in my understanding girls are into gossip and boys I think girls would enjoy reading this book.

“Is my name Dorothy? Then why did you think Munchkins could help me.”

Another fun one. The idea of them all competing for the room is really fun. Also enjoy the introduction of Skye as a character. The craziest part about this book is that Claire chooses to stay instead of becoming a full-time actress.

4.5 stars!
Claire said it best in this one: it's nice to have the Pretty Committee unite and work towards a common goal. I always prefer the Clique books where the girls actually work together instead of against each other, and this one gave me just that. Plus, the Hollywood plotline will not be continuing in future books, thank god.
Bonus: one of the characters has the ever popular YA cliche room decor- glow in the dark stars on her ceiling.

This book was amazing!!! I loved how they just started going into boys houses and looking under they're beds. Like really? Who does that! I also really liked the twist with this book!!! This random girl named Skye just starts telling them to go tear up boys bedrooms!
I didn't really dislike anything about this book! All of the imagery was good and the author's description of certain things were amazing!
A lot of things in this book surprised me! I had no idea any of it was going to happen!
Like how Skye just randomly shows up, and how it all twists at the end on who really has the key! I also love the suspense on how they end the book!

I loved the book Its Not Easy Being Mean. it is a great book because things happen youll never expect. In this book Claire just got back from staring in the movie Dial l for loser and of corse Massie is not caring. while this is happining Massie, Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen get a disk from alpha skye that says she hid a key under some guys mattress and if they find it they can be the next 8th grade alphas the thing is a bunch of other girls also are trying to find that key. In this book they get a list that shows all of the guys skye has kissed or has hung out with and start their search but will they find the key before the rest do? youll just have to read the book to find out

It's Not Easy Being Mean(Clique Series, Book 7)
By Lisi Harrison
Cindy Xu

Who would have thought that there was a secret lounge in OCD. The new up coming 8th graders would get to use the room whenever they want and teachers don't even know about it. The pretty committee is off on a task to find the key to the secret room. Every student dreams of having their own secret room in school where no teachers or students knows about. Massie the leader of the pretty committee has got the news that Sky the former 8th grader and user of the room has hidden the key to someone who she has kissed with. Who in the world could that be, that could be anyone!

The pretty committee isn't the only ones who are looking for the key to the heaven in the school, another group of girls are trying to get there before they do. All girls in the pretty committee want the room but they have their own problems to face. Like Claire in movies, and Dylan trying to win the soccer tournament. Massie who wouldn't care what she has to do to get to her goal, she must make the hardest decision. Kick Claire out of the pretty ommittee? What lead to that happening? This is the biggest surprise yet.

This novel contains all the problems of what teenagers have now so it can relate to alot of people. School and teenage relationships can lead to alot of problems, wouldn't it be nice if there was a place where you can hide and relaxe yourself? Thats what this sequel is about. It's not easy being mean is the burst of excitment everyone needs.
