Book follows the lives of 3 with successful careers, and the complications that come from having a career and family. She also shows the bias against women in business, how hard it is to succeed, and what you have to compromise.

Blah blah blah women blah blah blah power blah blah blah relationships suffer blah blah blah money blah blah BLAH! The "feminism" in this book gets really heavy-handed and then just ends up being tiresome.

This novel has the closest proximity of being SATC's predecessor. You can pick up Miranda, Samantha, Charlotte, and Carrie's persona all milked in one book with a slight alteration to a more upper-east-sider setting plus the blings and flings.

Super FUN to read.

Es un libro que te muestras distintas facetas de la vida de tres mujeres exitosas de Manhattan. Nico, Wendy y Victory tienen lo que muchas mujeres desean, independencia, libertad y dinero en sus cuentas bancarias, pueden dedicarse a aquello que aman y estar en la lista de las 50 mujeres más poderosas de la ciudad, pero, es todo tan fácil? No, no lo es. Porque aparte de mujeres exitosas, son madres, son esposas. Y no es fácil encontrar un equilibrio entre tu vida personal y tu vida laboral cuando se está siempre tan ocupada.

Cada una en sus respectivas vidas tuvo mucho que reflexionar, aprender y afrontar. No todo es perfecto y el dinero, tristemente no lo es todo. Me gusta otro detalle del libro, aunque es feminista, no muestra sólo las ventajas de que la mujer alcance los mismos puestos y responsabilidades de un hombre, sino las cargas y sacrificios que ello conlleva. Los problemas detrás de las puertas.

Porque así como ser mujer no es fácil, ser hombre tampoco lo es.

Many recognise this author’s name as the one behind Sex and the City. If that is the vibe one is looking for, this book scratches the itch. The novel is about three best friends in their forties – Nico O’Nielly, magazine editor, Wendy Healy, movie executive and head of Paradour Pictures, and Victory Ford, fashion designer/darling.

It’s set in the noughties of New York City, it’s glitz and glam and power women with more interest in their careers than in their marriages and families. There’s trouble in paradise for all of our heroines, sure, but nothing that can’t be solved with a lunch with the besties, or hiring the best lawyer in the city.

Lipstick Jungle is forgettable at best, but one thing I will carry with me is when Victory Ford thinks to herself how naive and sweet she was at 33. Oh, how it soothes a 27 year old to read exactly that.

Unapologetically what it makes itself out to be, this novel is one I will bring with me on holidays as often as Chasing Harry Winston (every time). A perfectly nonsensical novel – and second hand outfit – to end the summer season.

Me ha gustado bastante, me fascinó por ser un libro original que muestra cómo es la vida que regodea a tres mujeres poderosas que están por encima de sus maridos (en lo que a trabajo se refiere), porque bajo mi punto de vista, tampoco creo que haya nadie por encima de otro ser. Al mismo tiempo enseña el vacío y los problemas que dicho éxito crea en sus vidas. Adictiva y entretenida, que te engancha de principio a fin. Pero no deja de ser un libro básico.

Found that this kinda dragged for me, I didn't really warm to any of the characters except Victory but what lost this a star was the final line of the book "it's a lipstick jungle out there" which felt way to cliche!
