The Big Bad Wolf and Me

What would happen if a little boy met the Big, Bad Wolf and brought him home?

Who’s afraid of the big, bad wolf? Not the young hero of this thoroughly unique story. And, it seems, no one else is, either: instead of being the magnificent villain of “The Three Little Pigs” or “Little Red Riding Hood,” this wolf’s a wimp. So the boy decides to take the pitiful creature home and teach him to be scary once again. Can he do it? Children will absolutely love seeing the tables turned, with the small boy becoming the wise teacher and the wolf the sheepish student.

The short chapters and breezy, funny text are just right for new readers, and Delphine Perret’s line art is simply irresistible.

I really liked this book. The story was fun, the illustrations were so simple, but great! And there was the right amount of humor in it.

Cute and funny story about a little boy and the big bad wolf. The wolf doesn't scare people anymore and so moves into the boy's closet. They hang out and the wolf practices being scary.

I really enjoyed this book. I think it would be great for kids who are right before being introduced to chapter books. The book is set up in chapters but it is still very much so a picture book. The book also resembled a comic because there were multiple illustrations on one page and each illustration usually had some dialogue. My favorite part about the book was the humor in it. The whole time the boy wanted to call the wold Zorro but his real name was Bernard. At the end the boy said if he ever had a dog he would name it Bernard. I thought this was a sweet ending but also very funny. I liked that it The only downside to this book is that the illustrations are very small, which means that it would be hard to read to a classroom because the kids would not be able to see the pictures, and this is what most of the book is based on. I really enjoyed the book but I am sure there are better witty children's books out there.

This book is an interesting take on kids being afraid of things. The wolf in the story is not scary at all (in fact, he doesn't even eat meat) so the little boy has to teach him how to do it.

I love the concept and the writing. Just wish the pictures were bigger--some of the text is in such a tiny font, you almost need a magnifying glass to see it. This is a picture book for older kids--it has 12 short little chapters. Would be fun to read something like this after reading some fairy tales with scary wolves.

CIP: "When the Big Bad Wolf is mistaken for a dog, he comes to live in a boy's closet and eat chocolate chip cookies."

What would you do if the Big Bad Wolf came home to live with you? Would you share your cookies and let him sleep in your bedroom closet? That's just what one boy did while helping the Wolf work on his self-confidence. A fun, easy read with clear but simple pictures that help guide the delightful story along. A great choice for ages 7 through 12, but keep in mind that it also made this 30-something reviewer laugh out loud.

PRW and Booklist both gave favorable reviews.

line drawings drive the engaging story as a relationship between the boy and the wolf unfolds.
