This is one of those books you read in hopes of some spiritual awakening. I can't say I quite believe what Ms. Browne preaches, but wouldn't it be nice?
The book to me in itself had been okay. I had read this two years ago, when 19. Like most books I end up being in a full completion of, I could not put it down and metaphysics with me being an Indigo Child most certainly is something I have a passion as for. However, Sylvia Brown's credibility is a bit shaken. That should not be a reason to completely disregard a book though, which is why I have given this a starred three.
Sylvia Brown had been known to make inaccurate predictions. The biggest example being with case of Amanda Barry, as well as predicting time of her own (I refer to here Sylvia) death. She predicted she would die at 88, when she had, 77. Now life contracts can change and all, but there is more example she had made inaccurate prediction. This is not to say all her work is not credible, but exemplifies she has unsuccessful tendency.
People change as well, and this is by no means to shame her, but she had as well, a criminal record. It is a beautiful thing though, she found spirituality (thought claims to have had the gift since a young child and her grandmother had fostered it in her) to help her overcome that.
It is most certainly true, Sylvia being a spiritual being as we all are, has higher self and some insight most certainly is true. Her spirit guide Francine, whom she much references throughout this book, is probably a true entity and she sheds some interesting light. I just would be careful with a person who has shown methods to not be as reliable, though for compare and contrast reasoning and recognizing patterns within spiritual documentations, it can perhaps serve a good case study piece.
All in all, the book is what matters. If you want go by book alone, yes, the book is imbued with some invaluable insights, especially from perspective of Francine, but at same note, you want be careful with the mythology not being a consistent means to connect and attain accurate insight. Do not solely rely on this alone to open gate towards entering realm with your spiritual partners.
This is not the best Sylvia Brown book. It has interesting parts but is really not focused on finding your spirit guide. It talks a lot about her experiences, which is interesting but not what you would expect for a book with this title. The only part about YOUR spirit guide is in the meditations at the very end and on the cd. They basically just walk you through some scenes where you visualize your spirit guide and come up with their name. It's pretty weak but might work for the determined meditator. I have not given it a good try yet but aside from that, I don't think you need this book to learn to meditate and visualize the meditation. I recommend reading the end of the book at the book store and don't purchase.
Also, very annoying, the cd is basically a big repetition of the whole book, often word for word. I really wanted to fast forward through it but didn't know how much would be like that.
This book is awesome.. It opened a new chapter in my life(never knew I liked reading this much). This book is the first book that I read as an adult where I actually enjoyed it soo much,I was a sad that I had finished it.
I love anything Silvia ever wrote. I own several of her books and plan on adding many more. Some will be paperbacks and others will be e books. There is so much knowledge in each book.
At first, I was a bit of a skeptic about doing the meditation from the cd that came with the book. After listening to the first part of the cd, and reading the book in one day, I was ready to light some candles and get into some serious meditation hoping to contact my guide. Nothing clearly magical happened to me when I was visiting the other side during my meditation, because I thought I was imagining things and not able to embrace what was coming through to me. Anyways, the first session, I still didn't see my guide clearly, and I had no idea what his her name was. I just knew he/she was there. When I was in the room where the floor and curtains were supposed to be very pink, I couldn't see a lot of vivid pink. It was blurred. So I guessed I have yet to repete the process many more times. So far I have done the meditation several times. The night after my first session, I actually heard very loud popping noise. It was 4am, and I was wide awaken by the popping noise that was obviously not made by anyone banging things. It was like it came out of nowhere, so I was freaked out at first. Then I realized that's what Sylvia said in her book about some of the ways a guide can show us that they are with us. That very moment, I said to the air, assuming my guide was listening,"Ok, I realized you have just made the popping noise, and I do acknowledge that you are here, but please don't make those noise again." I didn't get much clarity in my second medition, but I think I was getting a better visual on my third try. Hopefully in few more sessions, I will be able to see my guide and hear his/her voice clearly. So that I can ask some questions and get some answers. I also think that maybe my guide still worry that I am afraid of him/her, and that I am not ready to receive full contact. The book is very easy and a quick read, it's not as deep and intricate as Past Lives, Future Healings which I also bought, but I am not ready to do a regression yet. If you are curious and a believer, than it's worth giving this book a try, but don't do it just for fun.
Yes I know the title says it all. A ridiculous notion for a book, but what do you expect from a self proclaimed psychic? The few books of her I've read are purely out of entertainment (like a Summer popcorn movie), to pass time and to debate with a friend that is convinced she speaks truths. Please don't attempt to actually try and "contact your spirit guide" as you will be sorely disappointed. Her books are pure fictional trash that entertains me the same way a gossip magazine would and that says it all.
