Super funny chick-lit mystery with a Texas twang.

Oh how I loved reading this book as a handheld a few years ago. It's even better as an audiobook! Peggity Price is the perfect narrator for this series. I loved revisiting this debut of one of my favorite series. I may have to start collecting them in audio format so I can listen anytime I want.

I was so disapointed to find that Barns and Nobles classify these books in Romance! Oh well I love them and they are not you typical "romance" books. They are over the top and so unrealsitic but who cares! They are fun!

This book was hysterical! Made me laugh out loud so may times. The wife of the richest man in Salt Lick, Texas turns up dead and there are many suspects. A reward is offered for the capture of the murderer. Debbie Sue, the sheriff's ex-wife, is just the one to solve the murder and claim the reward, along side her partner in crime and best friend Edwina. Buddy, the sheriff of Salt Lick, doesn't want Debbie Sue to get involved in the murder investigation. There're still sparks between those two, even though they are divorced and trying to get on with their lives.

A must read book that will have you laughing our loud hysterically.

The first in the series of the Domestic Equalizers. The equalizers: Beauticians Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin decide they should look into a murder and the wild ride begins. Big drawls, big hair and big hearts get these middle aged women in a lot of big trouble but that's not stopping them....
Dixie Cash's books always make laugh out loud. What more could anyone ask?

More like 3.75 stars, but I'll always round up for the literary version of Southern comfort food. Recognizable Quirky Texas characters, lots of humor, and a fun, small town setting. A light, entertaining palate cleanser between heavier books. I'll probably pick up the next one. Irrelevant Side Note: The whole time I'm reading this, I'm picturing a movie/tv version with 70's/80's casting choices. I'm seeing Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton (circa "9 to 5") as Edwina and C.J. I'm seeing Lee Horsley as Sheriff Buddy. Jackie Earle Haley as Harley. Betty White as Maudeen, for sure! And ok, kill me, but Jason Statham as Vic. I know he's not from that time period, but I'd give damn near anything to watch him cooking a gourmet meal, in a frilly apron, for Edwina. Not sure who I'd cast as Debbie Sue...

Since You’re Leaving Anyway, Take out the Trash, by Dixie Cash, b, narrated by Peggity Price, produced by Lone Star Books, a division of Recorded Books, and downloaded from audible.com.

This is the debut book in the series, and where we first meet Debbie Sue and Edwina, beauty shop owners, and operators of the Domestic Equalizers private eye business. Edwina Perkins and Debbie Sue Overstreet have opened a beauty shop together but they’re barely making enough to pay the bills. Buddy and Debbie Sue are divorced but clearly still in love with each other. The wife of the owner of the famous Caruthers Ranch, the biggest spread in west Texas, is murdered. The rancher put out a $50,000 reward to find the murderer. Debbie Sue determined to go after the reward so she would have enough money to pay off her debts. Buddy, her ex-husband, and the sheriff, does not want Debbie Sue and Edwina butting into his business. The pranks, high humor and slapstick comedy goes on in this book with everything coming out right in the end and Debbie Sue winning the reward.

When all was said and done it ended just the way you'd want it to. It was a tad convoluted and went on in strange ways, but that kept you guessing for the most part. The bull riding and such was a bit much for my taste, but Edwina and Debbie Sue really get into crazy situations. Some of their sayings were hysterical, and the dinner scenes with Quint were just nuts. Made me laugh and I was happy with the ending. Good enough. I have the rest of the series so I may continue.

Friends and co-workers of the Styling Station, Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins, are used to being the center of information (gossip) in Salt Lick, Texas, and now is no exception with the murder of the richest woman in town. At first the police think it is a suicide, but it proves that it was indeed murder which Debbie Sue had already predicted. Debbie Sue is deep in debt and when the husband of the murdered woman offers a $50,000 reward for the capture of the murderer, she decides to solve the crime to get the reward. Of course this puts her in the sights of the murderer and gets her in danger, but puts her on the trail of the murderer.

I just finished this book and boy was it good. It encompassed everything that I look for in a book. It had mystery, romance, humor, and drama.

Debbie Sue Overstreet is the stereotypical west Texas girl, born and raised in a small town called Salt Lick. She once was married to what she still finds the sexiest man in texas, and happens to be the Sherriff of this small town. Debbie Sue owns a small hair salon and therefore is the center of the gossip line there.

When a muder happens to someone they know they whole town stops by to see what the latest scoop is. With all this going on Debbie Sue has to figure out what she wants in her life and also who. She has to get rid of the demons from the past as she is dealing with everything else under the sun going on in this small town.

You can't not have a good time when reading this! I read a couple of the other books in this series before starting on this one, so it was good to see how Debbie Sue and Edwina got started in the sleuthing business (while not working in the Styling Station of course!). Very entertaining series and very likeable heroines!
