This was a great book! It was a true edge-of your seat suspense thriller and totally reinforced why I am a fan of Patterson.

Unlike the first book set in this part of the country (The Beach House), this one was more of a legal type thriller and it was more believable. Revisiting some of the quirky characters from The Beach House was nice. I loved how the story was written in first person from many different characters points of view. It really allowed me, as the reader, to completely understand what was going on in everyone's head. I also liked that Tom and Kate had some past history and that they were able to get past it to defend an innocent man.

I can't go into detail about the ending without giving it away, but OH.MY.GOD! I seriously never saw that coming! I was shocked to say the least, and this was one book that kept me in the dark until the very end.

The action through the book is rather slow and sometimes a bit boring, unfortunately. I really liked the plot twist at the end but for that you have to go through the whole book.

i would never read the best seller trash on my own but someone had it and I had nothing else to read. Unbelievably bad. might be the worst book I've ever read. who decidedes that this is what people should buy? complete absense of writing style, real characters, or plot. the whole book hinges on a twist that does nothing to explain or payoff anything that happened anywhere else and is completely unsupported by the events of the story. just awful.

When it comes to fast paced suspense novels with completely unbelievable plots, Patterson doesn't disappoint. The perfect book to read on a sunny afternoon in a couple of hours. What a page turner.

This book has one of the biggest twists at the end that you did not in any way see coming. That being said, it's an awful twist which sours the ending, sours your feelings toward the characters, and in addition to the content, makes this a book that I would not recommend to people.

Did not see that coming! You would think Patterson was a baseball player rather than a writer with all the curve balls he throws! An amazing read; regardless of what others right. After all, this story teaches us the old saying "don't hate the player; hate the game."
