Interesting. Bizzare. Novel. Unconventional. Unique. - A few words that come to mind as I finish this novella by Paul Auster. If you have read any of Auster's works you might recognise this as a familiar feeling when you turn that last page over.
It is a plot with many layers peppered with many ruminations. Every page is a little more unconventional than the previous one. It draws you in quickly and keeps you guessing. How it ends is neither expected nor satisfactory. And yet, it feels fantastic.
Paul Auster is an excellent writer, with a style unique to him and honed through many works. His prose is elegant, the words carefully chosen to distinctly outline a plot point, a thought or a feeling. He wastes no space and has such a command over language that it leaves you an admirer.
Cannot praise this author enough. His works tell a great story and for all fans of literature, they are a treat!
