Graham Greene's the Power and the Glory and Other Works: A Critical Commentary

Notes for Green's novel. During a vicious persecution of the clergy in Mexico, a worldly priest, the 'whisky priest', is on the run. With the police closing in, his routes of escape are being shut off, his chances getting fewer. But compassion and humanity force him along the road to his destiny, reluctant to abandon those who need him, and those he cares for. Plus other stories.

Don't remember a lot here, read for high school in 1992. I would likely have a different thought on the book today.

This book has been on my to-read list for quite a few years. I finally sat down to read it last week. After finishing yesterday, I feel like I need to go back and read it one more time. The depth of characters and images of human brokeness were compelling. I enjoyed the book but think that a second read would bring out even more.
