Read this and you can understand the terrorists goal. It's really as simple as that. Written by a failed revolutionary, but includes a philosophy you can see being used by all groups, religious and political, up till today.

I accidentally ended up with this ‘problematic’ book while online shopping for a book about ‘guerrilla urbanism’; -that’s when neighbours organise to fix their own suburbs instead of sitting around waiting for council to do it- so you can imagine my bafflement when I opened the envelope and found a picture of a AK47 on the cover of my ‘urban planning’ book.

So I read about the context of the minimanual. It turns out that it’s a manual for starting running and managing the logistics of (and I kid you not) a city terrorist cell. It proposed the idea of moving guerrillas to the city rather than the economically negligible jungle turf where it had been til then. The manual became influential since its publication as the ABC of guerrilla tactics.
My thoughts throughout this book was a deep sense of gratitude that I live in a safe country that one almost takes for granted. Armed resistance to tyranny is in theory noble and virtuous but one hopes they would never in a position to consider it in the first place. I also came out of this minimanual with a strengthened conviction in pacifism and strict gun control.
As for the tactics discussed in this book, it shows that the goal of the guerrilla is simpler than the goal of the tyrants. As the tyrants goal is to erase an ideology and maintain total control, while all the resistance has to do is cause trouble and be a nuisance.

I want to apply all the knowledge in this book asap

Un classique de la guérilla urbaine, pour apprécier cet ouvrage la préface et la postface de l'éditeur met bien en exergue le contexte ainsi que la vie de son auteur. On apprend comment combattre un état fasciste et dictatorial. Loin très loin de ce qui a pu être récupéré malheureusement par des bandes néo facho des années plus tard.

More interesting as a historical document most of the manual portion is outdated but still has important info on the three fronts of revolutionary action.

اصلا خودم هم نمی دونم چرا این کتاب رو خوندم .
شاید می خواستم یه جورایی بهش احترام بزارم صرفا ، برای اینکه ناراحت نشه از این که خونده نمی شه .
خیلی جالب بود ، شب که داشتم بر می گشتم خونه اینو توی یه کارتن کتاب کنار سطل زباله پیدا کردم . نسخه فارسی و چاپ چاپ خونه های زیر زمینی چریک های فدایی خلق ایران !!!
آره ، خودم هم فکر می کنم عتیقه پیدا کردم . اول به خودم گفتم پسر این از اون کتاب هاییه که یه زمانی مردم به خاطر داشتنش می رفتن زندان . خوب این جذاب ترش می کرد واقعا .
همین شد که خوندمش .
کتاب رو آقای کارلوس ماریگلا در ژوئن 1969 نوشته و این قدمت 50 ساله باعث می شه که دیگه ارزش تاکتیکی و عملیاتی نداشته باشه . همونطور هم که از اسمش پیداست دستورالعمل جنگ چریکی شهریه و برای انقلابیون برزیلی که علیه دیکتاتوری و امپریالیزم آمریکای شمالی می جنگیدن نوشته شده . به
نظرم الآن کاربرد خاصی نداره و بحث کردن راجع بهش هم بی فایده ست .

A very interesting and simple book on how to use the system against itself. Its geared more towards a communist revolution. And is useful when studying counter insurgency.

An intriguing historical document. I know very little about the revolutionary period under the Brazilian military dictatorship, but I have been trying to learn more. I found this to be a good entry point into better understanding the militant Brazilian left during this period. I can't comment on the efficacy of Marighella's military theories. The interview of ex-prisoners included at the end of the edition I read was especially enlightening. It was interesting to learn more about how participants in the guerrilla movement thought about their actions. I would love to read a more holistic history of the Brazilian military government, as well as the conditions that led to the failure of the armed revolution.
