Lincoln’s Greatest Speech

Everyone should read this speech for the clearest understanding of Lincoln and the Civil War. Lincoln proclaimed the ideas that have become a core of American culture. At this point the war had turned in favor of the Union and he laid down principles important to history. This obviously is highly recommended reading for everyone!!

How heart breaking, so much sacrifice.

How incredibly moving this was to read, hope it was for lasting good.
Read our history.
Don't repeat our collective stupidity.

Incomplete

Incomplete but good. This seems to be an edit designed to keep England's royal family happy. It must be the abridged version used to educate children in Europe. This would explain why its in the Anarchist Files.

Both GoodReads and my local library qualify these 271 words as a book, so so added.

Interesting

I have never read the Gettysburg Address before now. There are excerpts from it that we still say. Interesting book.

“The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here.”

Only 272 words long, but Lincoln’s Gettysburg address has a huge impact. I studied it in high school Civics.

Honest and succinct. It’s one of my favorite speeches given by a President.

I had read about it in history class but wanted to read the full address. I found that it is much shorter than I had ever expected but it is still incredibly poignant and moving today. It still speaks to the divisions in our country that have existed since the time of Lincoln.
