I'll be honest, I haven't actually finished this book. But I'm not sure I ever will. I got about 150 pages away from the end and was planning to keep going. And maybe it's terribly prudish of me, but then the main character slept with his two female, young teenage clones, and my stomach kind of churned. And I just don't feel the need to read any more of it. It's not like that was the first thing to bother me, I wasn't a huge fan of the main character to begin with. He was a long winded lecherous ass who seemed only to rejuvenate only to get some more young, pert tail. He acted like some kind of expert on love, while he only spoke of everyone with fleeting affection. Not once did I see an instance of anything which could be considered "pure," unless you count the computer, but really only while she was a computer, because once she turned human she was just as brainwashed as the rest of them. Perhaps I needed to have some background on this character before I started, but I'm honestly not sure I would have wanted to. Also, towards the beginning, it felt that those convenient little omitted parts (I would honestly like to know what was up with those) occurred only when I was actually somewhat interested in what was happening. Instead, I got to hear pages of deliberating about genetic code, and more pages on the little details of trekking out into the middle of nowhere with a pregnant, largely idiotic (I'm sorry, but that's what Heinlein appears to either like or expect in women) woman. So anyway, I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this book, but I just can't pretend I did.

It is well written and I really enjoyed the first few chapters. But then it started getting steadily creepier and more incesty.
I only got about half way through before it was too much and I DNFed

My favorite book of all time. So many stories, so much wisdom, and a cast of characters I love spending time with. I can't give it an objective review. I'm just too much in love with it.

This is the story of the lives of Lazarus Long, oldest member of the human race. He's been alive for thousands of years, and saw humanity go from the idyll of pre-World War I to the conquest of space and beyond. He's practiced nearly every profession, sired hundreds of children, and now he's bored with life and looking for something interesting to do.

This book has so much going on. It has space travel, time travel, a man who lives for over 2000 years. Dragons. Love.

I don’t even know where to begin with this review.

I found it interesting how the novel explored how love, children, and family can make one feel young again and give life purpose.

The discussions around marriage and bisexuality were also pretty neat.

I’m not a huge fan of the ending.

I found that some of the chapters were a bit long which made them tedious to read through.

I liked how varied the stories are and think the frame narrative worked really well in this novel.
