The Salinger Sisters Series spins the tales of four sisters who find love—in spite of themselves. The love—and laughs—begin in Book One, Love on the Run. For years, Catherine Salinger’s father competed fiercely against his former friend and nemesis in the advertising business, Miles Riley. These days, however, Cat is in charge, and taking her responsibility very seriously—especially now that the two companies are competing for a multi-million dollar deal with one of the fastest-growing athletic shoe companies in the world.

That’s why, when she finds out that her younger sister Daphne has run away with Riley’s youngest son, Cat vows to stop the elopement (and the potential leak of information), even if it means following the couple across the globe, and taking Jonas Riley, Miles’ overbearing, gorgeous oldest son!

The book is listed as a "romantic comedy," which is the first I've heard for a book. There was romance, but not a lot of comedy. I saw no mention on the book anywhere that it was "religious" at all, but toward the end there was a chapter where the character had quite a discussion with another character about Jesus and salvation. I didn't find that it added anything to the story though. It almost seemed like the author was just trying to witness to the reader and this seemed like the best way to do it. Aside from that, the story was okay and there were a few times I found myself turning pages in anticipation of what was next. Not my favorite book, but not my least favorite either.

I loved this series the first time I read it 20+ years ago. I still liked this first book in the series this time through (2nd or 3rd time - not sure, since the other times were pre-goodreads for me). I was more annoyed by Cat's control issues this time. I also have to say that I enjoyed the Catalina Island/Avalon day much more this time, since I actually spent an enjoyable day on the Island 2 years ago, sightseeing & parasailing (and had to rewatch Doris Day's movie "The Glass-Bottom Boat" immediately upon returning home, of course!).

Book #1 of the Salinger Sisters series. Catherine Salinger seems to have it all - brains, beauty and talent. She is a business woman first and foremost. She runs the company that her father left her and works extremely hard in keeping her sisters out of trouble.
Several years ago, ten to be exact, she broke up with her beau Jonas Riley. His father cheated her father out of the company and many customer accounts and Jonas has the audacity to stand beside his dad!
Now, Catherine finds herself competing with Jonas for the same advertising accounts. And to make matters worse, she then finds out that her youngest sister Daphne has run off to elope with Jonas' younger brother. Can Catherine find Daphne before it's too late? Can Jonas stop Catherine from ruining a match made in heaven?
Cute, funny, and a very quick read.
