Decent thriller set in the era of the space race and the Cold War. This is the first of Follett’s books in the spy thriller genre I’ve read and it was just ok. I adore his historical fiction novels, rating them much higher than this book. The premise was interesting but it felt a bit too nicely packaged to be believable. And his main hero was kind of a dick despite the author’s efforts to paint him as the man everyone loves and should aspire to be. He lacked substance and felt immature and one dimensional. Plus the ending sucked. But I didn’t hate it. I’m a sucker for Cold War spy stuff and the space race details were fascinating.
