This picture.book is a classic! I think I have read it about a million times to my children and now my grandchildren. It has always been one of their favorites in rotation.

It’s a story about a little mouse who finds a juicy red, ripe strawberry who has to work very hard to get it off the vine and take it home to eat. The narrator (the reader - you) interacts with the mouse through the words and illustrations. He brings up the point that there is a big, hungry bear who would really like that strawberry.

Your child will associate with the mouse (who is just too cute for words) and feel it’s alarm of having the bear take his strawberry. The bear is never seen as he is supposedly the narrator.

When all is said and done, learning to share with the bear becomes the best alternative.

The illustrations are fantastic as is the story. This is a timeless book to elicit emotions out of the child. So fun for the adult reader.

This book is a childhood favorite. I still remember my mom reading this book, and the tone she used as she read it. I have found myself copying her tone as I've gotten older. This book is one of my favorites for library storytimes. The children's eyes get so big as I read it. They really get into it!

The illustrations are also lush and pretty, with an adorable mouse and a delicious-looking strawberry. They're colorful and fun.

The art is lush and colorful a wonderful blend of almost real yet still cartoonish. The “story” uses a rarely used device that helps it feel original.

I don’t know what it was about this book, but it hooked both of my children. It quickly grew to be one of their favorites. The more I read it, the more it grew on me.

We had to take a spit up break in the middle of this one, but I found the mouse on every page and enjoyed looking at him! Thanks, Aunt Mandie!

Despite the fact that I read this book as a child multiple times, I can't for the life of me remember most of it... the most vivid memory I have of this book were the brightly-illustrated straswberries.

Now reading these reviews from other readers and being reminded of what the story was about, it seems weird now, but it's still an all right book, and the illustrations are lovely.

Exactly the right kind of book for a preschooler that loves a sight gag. The pictures are lovely and full of fun detail, the story is short and simple, and the humor is gentle and playful.

In the picture book, The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear, the main character is a small mouse that finds a juicy, red, ripe strawberry that he wants to claim as his. Throughout the book, the narrator shares that the big hungry bear loves himself fresh strawberries just like the mouse. The mouse knows that no mater what, the bear will find a way to find his ripe strawberry. The mouse then tried to hide it putting dirt around it, putting a chain around the strawberry and locking it up and even disguising the strawberry with glasses and a mustache, trying to make it harder for the bear to find the strawberry. Towards the end the mouse realizes the only way he can “save” the strawberry is by cutting it in half and giving the other half to the bear. Just like the mouse have your students disguise themselves. Have each student bring a grocery bag to cut and decorate a mask that will disguise them form the big hungry bear.

The illustrations are fun, bright, and colorful. The story is about a little mouse who picks a big red strawberry, however, the little mouse must be warned about the big and hungry bear who's absolute favorite snack is a big red strawberry. When given the news the little mouse is now in fear that the big hungry bear wants his strawberry, despite his fear he continues to pick the strawberry and so begins the journey of getting it home. The little mouse has to go through great efforts of hiding it, but eventually the reader convinces the mouse the only true way to prevent the big bear from eating it is to cut the strawberry in half and share it with the reader.
