I checked this out of the library right after reading Heather's review about it.

She was right, it was great. And it's a children's book that doesn't get old even after N x 14 readings. (If N > 1)

Note: While the following is a real review, it is also a shameless ploy to make my Goodreads reading challenge.

Our copy of this board book is dog-eared. Let that set in: The board book is dog-eared. That takes some repeated readings, folks. We weren't messing around with The Little Mouse or that Big Hungry Bear.

This classic from Don and Audrey Wood is great fun to read, giving parents plenty of latitude to put our all into the narration. And, as I mentioned, we read it a lot, so it was quickly memorized, making it even more likely that the Emmy Award committee would have called if we had had the time to make that recording.

Written and illustrated by Don and Audrey Wood this book is a preschool favorite. Little Mouse just wants to enjoy his strawberry, but what will he do when he finds out the big, hungry bear likes strawberries too? A fun read-aloud for the classroom, this book is easy for young children to memorize and retell.

This was my favorite picture book as a kid that my grandma used to read to me every time I went to visit her in California, and after years of asking for it, my grandma let me keep the book. I reread it and basked in its glory, reliving how much I loved hearing my grandma read it to me. It's cute and sweet and iuhsfjlkrjfhudijiosd childhood, dudes. i miss it.

My children would give this book 10 stars if they could.

I think the narrator is taking advantage of the mouse's generosity with scare tactics.

My favorite page is the one with the disguises.

This book is so special to me. I grew up with my mother reading me this book, and I read this book so many times to all 3 of my daughters. I will forever treasure this book and will pass it down to my grandchildren.

This is the first book I ever really loved and read it (or well, had my mom read it to me) over 100 times. I still know the words to this book by heart ("hello little mouse what are you doing?").

Putting a voice to a two year old book choice with Nanny Sue
Alexander’s favourite book which he has read over and over again. He loves strawberries, which is why Nanny got the book out and she even had a red, ripe strawberry in a box to eat at the end. He also likes ladders (because Fireman Sam has a ladder). A real favourite and we love the illustrations.

This was his Aunty Elly’s book when she was little which came with a mouse toy too. There is not a lot of text on the page but lots to see.

Nanny and Alexander add a few bits of conversation of their own.

What has he got?

A ladder.

Where is he going?

"Oh, I see! You are going to get that strawberry."

"Yep," says the little mouse.

Alexander loves reading the book with little mouse in his arms.

The book Nanny has, is a hard back book which has helped it last.

This is a cute short story. It is about a mouse who has found a big, red, ripe strawberry. He wants to take the strawberry home, and eat it for himself, but he knows that the Big Bear will want it too. The story is about what the mouse does to avoid the bear, and how he gets away with the strawberry.
tThe illustrations in this book are very well done. They take up almost the whole page. There are many vivid colors throughout the book, and there is always something to look at. Also, the illustrator did a fabulous job at getting the illustrations to emulate exactly what happened in the story. I thought this was a cute story, and I would recommend it.
