Although we are reading an illustrated version of Treasure Island, it's not exactly the one pictured here. It's great to be reading a 'children's book' when I have to teach and read a little bit harder stuff all day every day. We read this aloud to each other and enjoyed its story line.
tTreasure Island by Robert Luis Stevenson is an adventure story. The setting involves a ship in the ocean and of course Treasure Island. And the main character is a boy named Jim Hawkins.
t So there's this boy in the book called Jim Hawkins, the main character, who goes on a ship to an island that is told to have treasure on it. The captain of the ship is called Captain Smollett, and there is a one legged pirate called Long John Silver. And eventually they find the treasure on Treasure Island. After they find the treasure, Ben Gunn ends up spending it on drinks, but then some people felt pity for him and gave him some of theirs.
t In my opinion, I would say this it is a great book, and I would very much recommend it.
Treasure island!! Not all brass colored might be gold..like what happened from the boy in this story after expecting fortune from his adventure,,journey maybe unexpected, sunrise after sunsets,,expectedly i recommend the book for young children for them inspires the journey of adventure like Jim fight to win against the pirates. Amazing....
My young boys were enthralled and we finished this book in only a couple of days. I feel this abridged version did leave some key transitional pieces out, so we had to fill in some blanks for young readers. For those unfamiliar with the book, some themes of violence/death and drunkenness are present but not graphic.
This book was a fun read. I was a bit bored until halfway through. Then I had a hard time putting it down. I confess I had a hard time understanding certain dialogues. Definitely a fun read for any junior high boy (or girl) who likes adventure and had the patience to look up vocab.
