Interested in the longer version. I suspect that much of what makes this novel a beloved classic isn't found here in the abridged form. It was still an acceptably exciting read-aloud though.

Definitely Pirates of the Caribbean vibes! I loved it!

This book was about a group of pirates on boat. They heard about a treasure on the other side of the world, so they were going there because they had a map to get there. The captain of the boat was Magellen. Half way there the boat broke down all of the pirates are trying to fix it before it sinks. Will the pirates save the boat before it sinks? Would Magellen find the treasure? Read and find out what will happen.

In the book Treasure Island. One day a strange man walks through the door. Jim hears stores from the strange man and he wants Jim to call him Captian. One day the captain dies of stroke. Jim finds a key on his neck and opens the captains chest and finds a map. He goes to a nearby friend the doctor and tells him about the map. Jim and the Doctor set out to find a ship and crew. They found the crew and set sail. One night Jim overhears a couple of the crewmen talking about betraying the rest of the crew and captian. Jim tells the captain and Doctor about the plot. The next day they find the Island and went the shore and went and hid in the jungle. When the Traders found them there was a battle both sides having loses and deaths. After the fighting was over there was a peace tready to find the treasure map. After long days of serching they finally found it but the Doctor had a trick up his sleeve and scared of the traders so they could have all the gold. After they got all of the money on board they set sail for home.

My son and I read this together. Maybe a book about a boy seeking treasure while pursued by murderous, mutinous pirates was too steep for a six-year-old, but we both enjoyed the adventure. We read 1-3 chapters per night for bedtime stories, the chapters are short enough to allow flexibility. The vocabulary was a little tough for a beginning reader, but he was well-engaged and I was glad to read to him and have him read portions. The story seemed to have really engaged his imagination!

Young Jim Hawkins finds himself in possession of a treasure map and is pursued by mysterious, violent sailors. They go to seek the treasure when the some of the crew of the Hispaniola, led by the one-legged, parrot-on-his-shoulder Long John Silver, mutiny in the hopes of claiming it all for themselves.

Having only read this abridged version, it leaves me wondering what was left out.

Good book, read it to my daughter who enjoyed all the pirates. Quite a few misspellings in this version.

I think the combination of old english and old pirate and nautical terminology has made this book a harder read for people today and might effect how much someone enjoys or doesn't enjoy the story. I think this rewritten adaptation of the story does a good job of putting the plot into easier language accesible for kids or just someone who wants to breeze through the story without dealing with all the dense and lengthy prose. The illustrations also add a lot, even though it's an abridgedversion for kids I almost enjoyed it more than the original novel, although there is a lot in the original novel that was cut out.

While reading the novel Treasure Island, the author displayed different themes through each events. These themes were heroic, adventure, wealth, and growing up. For example, when Jim Hawkins(the main character) goes on a voyage to a daring Treasure Island, he begins his adventure of discovering treasure and the difference of his own shipmates. Deidre Laiken is trying to tell readers to enjoy and have an adventure while reading this book because you can relate to the certain things that Jim goes through and become interested in setting your own experience of life. This demonstrates that the author wants readers to keep wondering what's going to come next because in every adventure you always have to expect the unexpected. The various events that occur in the novel shows how the author relates it to the real world. For instance, this whole novel takes place in the eighteenth century, when pirates were known. This reveals the books time setting is an actual part of history that can be true and how it happened centuries ago. While reading this book there were no outrages events or scenes that made me feel very uncomfortable but there were certain scenes that were involved with some killings that were meant to be. All of the certain events that happened made me think that in life, certain things happen for a reason and you or anyone else cant stop it from happening. Overall, this book has events that lead up one after the other, making you want to keep reading to find out what happens next .This novel also allows readers to set of onto an adventure with Jim and his shipmates to discover the secrets and treasures of Treasure Island. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone because it has an adventure to it and makes readers interested , that they would not stop reading it. This book is also good for the readers who like adventure settings and can relate to certain characters in the story. This novel also has reveling secrets and surprises that just shock every reader. After reading Treasure Island, it has taught me to always expect the unexpected that life throws at you and to always have your unique adventures because it can lead to something great.

I just love reading abridged classics!

This is a very-fun-to-read classic book. There is a lot of action and other types of genres in this book. I think if you read this book you would enjoy it.
