This is a book that it's impossible NOT to sing! "Dooby, dooby, moo ...".
The farm animals want to win a trampoline at the county fair. So behind the farmer's back the cows, sheep, pigs and duck enter the talent show. The animals receive mixed reviews so duck steps forward and struts his stuff with a rendition of "Born to be Wild".
Kids will love to join the the animal's version of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.
You can laugh and have lots of fun with this book. Just make sure that you remember the tunes to Stranger in the Night, and Born to be Wild!

This book is from the creators of "Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type." "Dooby Dooby Moo" will surely make children laugh at the nonsensical farm animals who audition for a talent show. 1st-3rd

Dooby Dooby Moo by Doreen Cronin and illustrated by Betsy Lewin is a fun, silly story about Farmer Brown (of Click Clack Moo: Cows that Type) and his scheming animals. The farm animals want to win a talent show so the cows and sheep plan to sing while the pigs plan an interpretive dance. Farmer Brown can tell the animals are up to something so he doesn’t leave them alone and goes as far as taking them to the fair with him. As it turns out, this was exactly what the animals needed to happen. In the end one of farm animals wins a prize but not who you may have thought. I really enjoyed this book and the illustrations and texts keep readers interested. I would use it with younger student in grades K-2. It would be a great book to use to practice prediction and inference strategies as well as discuss how authors and illustrators use different text fonts and pictures to add to the story.

I really liked click, clack, moo and thought this book would have a same interesting and creative message attached. Unfortunately it really did. I can see why kids like it but it didn’t do too much for me

In Dooby Dooby Moo Farmer Brown has many animals on his farm and little does he know they love to perform and sing and dance. Farmer Brown does become suspicious of his animals and attempts to spy on them. But hears nothing. There is a fair soon coming and all the animals prepare a tune, Farmer Brown takes all of his animals not knowing they are in a talent completion. When he leaves the truck his animals leave as well. They go to the talent show and the duck ends up winning. All the animals return to the truck and farmer brown has no idea what just happened.

The way this story is written I feel will keep children entertained not only because the talking lively animals but that they are sneaking behind farmer brown. A child reading this will be interested if the animals will be able to get away with the situation that they have put themselves in and how they will get away without getting caught, also if they will win the competition.

One thing I thought was interesting that the author used different animals that you may not ever see actually interacting together in real life. I find this interesting because the author is using an example or asking a point that it is okay for different people to be friends, tall or short, white or brown everyone can be friends and be happy together.

The illustrations went along with text, although sometimes it seemed to me that the illustrations were telling a different story than the text was. Like there was something going on the side or there was something in the background that was mentioned in the text, but I think this relates to theme of the animals being sneaky so you can see in the illustrations there were thing happening in the background that were not mentioned.

It isn't often that a sequel to a popular children's book ("Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type") is as good as the first, if not better. However, "Dooby Dooby Moo" may just be the rare exception!

The animals on the farm have just learned that the local fair is hosting a talent show, and everyone is eager to take to the stage to perform. The grand prize this year is a brand new trampoline, and the cows, pigs, and sheep are all in on the action. Farmer Brown soon becomes suspicious of their antics when he hears "rehearsals" coming from the barn each night.

Super silly fun for adults and kids to read (and sing!) together.
