I got hooked on this series after reading "Hostile Witness", which I loved. Here again, Josie Bates is drawn into a case because of a personal connection to one of the main characters, who then becomes the defendant in the case. Josie has a soft spot for the weak when they get caught up in the legal system, and that makes her my kind of heroine. Of course things get twisted and go horribly wrong, and periodically you realize, dear reader, that you've forgotten to breathe again, but you can always catch up with your oxygen needs when the story is over!

This is the third book in the series. Unlike many reviews I read I actually enjoyed this book a bit more. If you haven't read the first two than the characters of Hannah and Archer will seem superfluous or lacking becausr you won't know the history. I can see that as an issue but if you are a reader of the series than they do well as the sopporting characters in this book.

Rebecca Forster and her Witness Series are incredible! Contemporary crime drama at its finest. Josie Bates is the exception, an attorney that has integrity, talent and a heart. Forster has a gift for telling compelling tales that are irresistible. Privileged Witness is book 2 in the series. The characters are wonderful, the attention to detail divine and the whole package simply fascinating. Worth every penny!

I rated this a five-star book as I have with the rest of this series. Rebecca Forster has written a fabulous series with Josie Bates. Characters are believable, Bates' cases are believable but have many underlying plots, twists and turns. After swearing off rich clients, Bates gives to defending the sister of an old boyfriend and is reminded o why she stopped defending such clients in the first place. Anyone with a taste for crime fiction, legal thrillers, courtroom drama (Law & Order type stuff but better), and brilliant storylines will appreciate what Forster has written here.

I really enjoyed the first two books in the witness series. However, this book was slow and boring at times. I read the kindle edition which had alot of spelling errors.

Josie is retained by her former-boyfriend-current-Senate-hopeful's sister after his wife's apparent suicide. Ah, so hard to stop reading these! Fiction pet peeve #1 (mental health misinformation) activated. For those who came to Goodreads looking for the truth, let it be known that (generally speaking), OCD is neither caused by trauma nor cured by love. And that other diagnosis she threw in at the end... not so much.

Third one in the series. I love the characters! And I like the way each book in the series is different enough, while involving the same characters, to keep the reading interesting.

Good story just hated the way it just ended. There's one more to go so maybe then there will be a good ending to the story.

Well for starters, I'm very stingy with my 5 stars but this book deserves it. It had all the twists and turns I love and it kept me guessing right till the end. I love a mystery that throws in shockers and this one had one at every other chapter. I also love a mystery that I can't figure out, leaving me blown away at the end. Again here was that mystery. I strongly suggest it for anyone who loves a good mystery like I do.

My least favorite of the three I've read so far, but still entertaining.

Josie Bates

I really enjoyed the first three books and will no doubt continue to read the rest. For me the fact that
osie and Archer are always second guessing their relationship is irritating. Josie comes across as a strong woman as well. And yet at times seems so unsure of herself. Nevertheless I am still purchasing and enjoying. Thank you
