Just read A Very Vampy Christmas by Kerrelyn Sparks
The story featuring Maggie O' Brian, and her hero Don Orlando de Corazon...
Maggie is a fans of Don Orlando,a vampire actor, but when she knows he is a womanizing pig, she is resist him. And then she join him in vampire soap opera and realze maybe she is not hate him, yet...
Don Orlando himself, has a weakness, he has an amnesia. He dont know his true identity before he become vampire. So, with help of Maggie, he search his past. They go to New Orlean, and Don Orlando found his real name is Pierce Alejandro O'Callaghan, and he is a former rodeo.
Now, when he is know where his real family is, can he conviced them, even though he become a vampire, he still a good person in the heart, and can he win Maggie's heart?
The story is fun, light read, and can read alone. I finished read this in one hour, and continue to read the next in Love at Stake series. If you a fans of Love at Stake series, you don't want to miss this story...
All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth: Pauline, a medical fraud investigator, and her coworker Jagger look into a dentist who may be bilking patients out of their dentures.
This was a weird story. The pacing was very strange, making it hard to follow, and I wasn't in love with the writing style. It also is not a romance, just a work type story with romantic tension.
The Lords of Misrule: A British 17th century household is upturned on Christmas Eve by theft and murder.
This seems to rely heavily on the reader having a familiarity with the series, although eventually things make sense. The story itself is formal and stilted, and a little boring, even with murder involved.
The Ghost of Christmas Passed: A boisterous clan gathers together for Christmas Eve.
This is definitely not a romance, but is a family story. It's chaotic and loud, like all family gatherings are, with a surprising visit from the past.
Partners in Crime: A professional organizer with someone after her is saved by a mysterious man who won't leave her alone.
This is the first romance in the book, and it's a very sweet one. There's an element of suspense, a mystery, some compulsory organizing, surprising skills, and heartwarming Christmas scenes.
Holly Go Lightly: The ghost of his ex-girlfriend is determined to improve Nick's life.
I loved this story. It was sweet, paranormal, and had a wonderful ending.
A Very Vampy Christmas: Maggie is in love with soap star Don Orlando, who has amnesia. They decide to investigate who he really is.
It's definitely apropos that the two protagonists are on a soap opera, because the real-life events are soapy. The story is a fun installment in the series, and the misconceptions are fixed fairly promptly.
I only read Kerrelyn Sparks story and although short, I found it to be an enjoyable contribution to the series with familiar humor and characters. Maggie digs deeper into playboy Don Orlando character at Christmas time.
This book is comprised of 6 novellas. Here are my ratings for each in order from best to not so best.
1. A Very Vampy Christmas - 4 stars 2. Holly Go Lightly - 3-1/2 stars 3. All I Want For Christmas is my Two Front Teeth - 3 stars 4. Partners in Crime - 3 stars 5. The Ghost of Christmas Passed - 2 stars 6. The Lords of Misrule - 1 star
As of today, the only one I have read in this series is Kerrelyn Sparks. I started to read one of the other ones and couldn't get into it. It will be one of those books I go back to just to see if I can get into any of the other authors. The Kerrelyn Sparks story is quick and it fills in nicely to the Love at Stake series.
An interesting selection of short stories of various genres and time periods. I read or tried to read (I don't remember what happened so either it was a DNF or not memorable...)All I want for Christmas before. I didn't make it very far this time either. I could not force myself to finish the Ghost of Christmas past (bed and breakfast mysteries). I was so bored I was considering vaccuming instead. UGH I enjoyed the other 4 stories quite a bit, though.
I felt that some of these stories were a little boring. But I did like Partners in Crime by Cait London, Holly Go Lightly by Suzanne Macpherson, and A Very Vampy Christmas by Kerrelyn Sparks. My favorite story was Holly Go Lightly. It was whimsical and funny. I liked how even though Holly was dead, she got her point across. I loved when she put some kind of truth serum in Nick, Gwen and Nick's family's wine. Boy, did they tell Gwen off! And then she pushed Nick to go to California, to find something important.
