This one was a sweet love story and I read it for my February 2020 challenge pick (a love story). It was brilliant, emotional, and very romantic. I already read The Notebook a few years ago. I know the story about Noah and Allie. The Wedding is about their daughter Jane and her husband Wilson. I love these two couples and their love. They are old but they are still in love like at the beginning. So sweet ❤️

I would give this four and half stars. This is a good, down-to-earth book. You feel like this novel is something that could happen in everyday life. It is heartwarming and the ending is a surprise. Nicholas Sparks has a talent to write stories about the common man and bring those stories to life. In this story, Wilson Lewis, the husband of Jane, tells the story of a man who had not paid attention to his wife and finds after many years of marriage that she has fallen out of love with him. In order to win her love, he becomes a man who cares and renews his love by focusing on her and her needs and not his law practice. He does this through the telling of current events and several flashbacks, such as how they met, how they became distant and how much both of them love their children. Wilson is close to Jane's father who now is in a elderly home. He likes watching a swan and feeds the animal. He also believes this swan is his wife who passed away and now lives in the form of this swan. This took me out. Although I liked the scenes, the last scene of the swan did not seem real to me. I also believed some of the timeline was off like the one daughter's marriage was to take place tomorrow, yet in the next scene, it happened a couple of days later.

Bewertung Band 2: 4/5
Bewertung Dilogie: 3,5/5

I don’t think I loved this *quite* as much on the reread, but it’s such a sweet story that it’s likely one I’ll still come back to when I need an easy, sweet love story.

This was loaned to me by a well-meaning friend who knew I was leaving on vacation and thought I needed a "good beach read." (At the time, I was immersing myself in political books that were not anyone's idea of a beach read.) While I appreciate the gesture, this book was just not for me. Do remember, though, that I have a bias against romances set in contemporary times. I need a wide expanse of time and cultural context before my romantic heart can throb, apparently, and this book didn't provide that.

In addition, I just couldn't accept that ANY MAN could ever make such a complete turn-around in his life, transforming from a traditional "good" husband (fine provider, stable and stalwart member of his community and profession, someone who remembers to take out the trash, but also someone who treats his wife with benign "executive neglect" and is emotionally distant and passionless) into a man of exceptional romance and sensitivity with a self-discovered firm commitment to re-igniting the love between himself and his wife. Just couldn't imagine that. If you CAN imagine that, then this may be a good book for you. Nicholas Sparks certainly has a large popular following, but I am not one of them. 2 stars

4,5. Prachtig.

The novel was super slow compared to the pace of The Notebook, it's companion novel. I did enjoy the story up until about half way through when it really began to drag even slower than it had before. Normally, I am able to fly through his books within a couple days but, this book took me a little over a week to complete. I never DNF his books but, this one had me contemplating it. The characters were super well rounded and the story was written very well.

I haven't read any Nicholas Sparks before and for some reason I had this one on my Kindle (must have bought it at some point) so I decided to give it a shot. Are his other books like this as well, because if they are I definitely will not be reading anything else by him. This kind of saccharine book really isn't in line with my taste.

“My first thoughts after waking are – and always have been – of you.”
---

The reason I am a hopeless romantic pt.2 . This book was truly so beautiful, it was incredible hard to find THE quote which starts this review. That's why I will put some other quotes in the end of it :))

The Wedding is about the children and grandchildren of Allie and Noah (from the notebook). Since the notebook has become one of my all time favourite books, I obviously HAD to read this one. If only to read more about Noah.. .

Jane, the daughter of Noah, is married to Wilson for almost 30 years. They have three children, a house, a stable income and everything you could wish for. EXCEPT that the love in their relationship has somehow got lost between these thirty years as a couple. And when Wilson has realised that, he promises himself to get Jane to fall in love with him again.

You might ask yourself now: why does Wilson thinks Jane doesn't love him anymore and not the other way round? Yeah - you have to know one thing about him: Showing feelings and especially SAYING what he's thinking isn't characteristic of him. He made some BIG mistakes. So of course it's about time to make up for them.

In this book, we follow them and see how their relationship changes. But not only that, we see Noah, his 3 other children and the children of Wilson and Jane. We see that they love each other and especially how they all adore Noah. He is so smart, funny and endearing! I loved every second we got to see of him

This is the second Nicholas Sparks book that I have read; the first being The Notebook. This is a follow up to that book focusing on one of Noah's daughters. It was a decent read but not quite as engaging as The Notebook. It could be the "male perspective" that comes across so clearly to me. However, that being said, I suppose as a married woman, I should be glad to have a closer look at the "male perspective." I am getting used to Sparks' style of writing which I wouldn't say is quite chic lit.

The story was a bit slow in the beginning but I really enjoyed the ending which turned out quite romantic. The book offers hope that marriages can be turned around for the better if a positive effort is put forth and both parties aren't quite ready to let go.
