In this book, readers can expect to find a wealth of concept art, sketches, costume designs, set designs, and other visual materials that were used to create the film's iconic look and feel. It offers insight into how the filmmakers envisioned and realized the various characters, creatures, locations, and objects from Tolkien's Middle-earth, from the Shire to Rivendell to Mordor.

"The Art of The Fellowship of the Ring" provides fans of both the books and the films a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the artistic and creative decisions that shaped the cinematic adaptation of this beloved fantasy epic. It's a valuable resource for anyone interested in the intersection of literature, art, and film in the context of "The Lord of the Rings."

A lovely book with interesting tidbits from the FotR movie, I enjoyed reading it and seeing the pictures. Overall, very well-done and included stuff that isn't covered in the "appendices" of the DVDs.

I have read a lot of books in my life this has been one of the best books. I would recommend this book for people who love fantasy. Also i watched the movie first and that is what sparked my interest.

One of the best series I have ever read. You fall into another world of Middle Earth. Made me fell like I was also side by side in their journey through the world. Fighting orca and escaping wraiths while riding to war with the knights of Gondor. I highly recommend.

Brief remarks:

Pretty cool, overall. I have read the LOTR Trilogy & the Hobbit AT LEAST once/year for over 15+ years...it was a neat chance reading this part with the film based art included! I think I'll look for the rest of the set & check them out as well.

My only complaint is I could only find it in a "real" book at the time (versus ebook) & I find myself no longer good at actually picking up a true book & turning pages; how pathetic is THAT?! Lame.

I gave this book 4 solid stars since it has a unique story line and is unpredictable. It is one of the most creative book I have ever read besides unwanteds. And delivers some sitting at the edge of the chair action.
When Bilbo is on his journey I am picturing what it looks like so I look at the movie scenes on youtube. The creativity also brings dangers to Frodo when he’s going to MT Doom. It keeps you on you’re toes wandering who’s going to capture or endanger Frodo and his buddies next. This book was just kind of a filler but it still is important to read so you don’t just go to the next book and have no idea of what Saruon and the black riders are. It was very different simular to the first book since it had a long journey to Mt Doom, and Bilbo traveled to the dwarfs old realm. It started off quick and entertaining and kept the pace throughout the book. It was fun to read about Frodo gaining experience and becoming more like Bilbo.
Since I love fantasy this book was fun to read about and to picture a whole different type of world. Fantasy is really a tough thing to write about, you have to come up with new stuff or it would be copying someone and no one wants to read those books. J.R.R really nails it with his imagery giving everyone a picture with his words. He is one of the most creative author writing about things I haven’t heard of for example hobbits. It’s what really brings the book to life when you can see what’s happening when you close your eyes. No one does it better than J.R.R only Lisa McMann comes close.
It didn’t question my beliefs at all, I just know this stuff is impossible to happen that’s why it’s fantasy. The only bad part is that there is to much information in this book, 423 pages is a bit much for me. I think it could shorten it up a bit or give some war scenes to give me goosebumps. This was really the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Don’t get me wrong it still a heck of a book but it’s just getting me ready for the Two Towers. The setting that J.R.R chose made the story a lot more dramatic which is appealing to me.
The book is definetly not as good as the hobbit mostly because I’m used to Bilbo but Frodo still delivers some spice. I do recommend this book but not until they have read the Hobbit and if they like fantasy. This series is very entertaining and is worth the time in the end, and sets a higher bar for other books that I read.

Beautiful, whimsical, theatrical, perfectttt

Not at all what I was expecting after watching the films. They’re some of my favourite films, but so different to the books. Both are amazing in their own right
