Is it just me or was this suddenly very purposefully-convoluted and repetitive? And had some of the most awful female characterisations in the history of anything??? The concept is still very cool, and I want to keep reading, but I kind of wish I could wipe the entire Misa thing from my brain.

Okay is it just me or are the representations of women in this particular volume SO SCREWED UP? Girls are not as smart. Girls always need saving. Girls make good pawns if you happen to have a notebook that can KILL PEOPLE and need something to distract the police from suspecting you. (I can't tell you HOW MANY DATES I've been on for that reason. All you fellas out there and your notebooks of death.) I had thought it might have been my imagination before, but this couldn't be more stereotypical of generic gender roles. Also need to add, I was super disappointed in the previous books to find out L was a guy (I was convinced otherwise). All of that said, the story is still super intriguing and I'm this deep in now. No turning back...even if Light's entire personality has now drained away and I know I'm stuck following airhead Misa for at least a few more. Thank heaven's for those wacky Shinigami entertaining the heck out of me (and luckily making the story more interesting). Can't we just hang out with them more in Shinigami-land?

Dislikes: At some parts of the book it was a little confusing. First off, light is mine. Second, I just felt that this book was a little akward with the romance.

Overall, I am excited to start vol.7 (look at the dislikes)

I read this volume on Shonen Jump and even though I’m not the biggest fan of reading manga digitally, my bank account is going to thank me for how much money I save with that subscription.

I liked the drama that Misa brought to the story at first, but she’s very naive and is easily being manipulated by Light, so that whole relationship feels gross and extremely toxic.

There were two parts of this volume that I absolutely loved though.

I loved seeing how Shinigami can die. It was a unique twist that I wasn’t expecting from this series. It was really heartfelt and I’m guessing it will come into play again later in this series.

The other part I loved was L and Light’s friendship. L is a very reclusive guy, so seeing him call Light a friend was beautiful. I know that it will only lead to heartbreak down the line though, so I know I might be a mess toward the end of this series.

*5/5* Light Yagami is absolutely my jam.
