Hitsi kun tämä on hyvä sarja! Aikoinaan en päässyt sarjan loppuun ja olenkin unohtanut aika paljon, mitä tässä tapahtuu, joten oli jo aikakin palata sarjan ääreen.

Kirjassa eletään päälisin puolin nykypäivän Japanissa, mutta mukana on yliluonnollisia elementtejä. Pääasiana on kuitenkin kissa ja hiiri-leikki poliisin ja päähenkilö Light Yagamin välillä, joka on päättänyt puhdistaa yhteiskuntaa rikollisuudelta. Ongelma on vain se, että absoluuttinen valta korruptoi absoluuttisesti.

Tässä on upeaa dekkarimeininkiä ja toisaalta eettistä sekä moraalista pohdintaa. Kuvitus on niin yksityiskohtaista ja elokuvamaista, että jo vain senkin vuoksi tätä on ilo lukea.

After the nail-biting end to volume one I launched straight into two! The book just doesn't let up, it's always fast, edgy, smart and great writing that is seriously addictive, coupled with the excellent drawings I think I may be a serious convert to manga. It's such a refreshing difference sometimes from full-length, 'heavy' fantasy novels I'm so use to reading.

I liked how smartly Naomi has worked out some of her conclusions regarding Kira. Didn't end too well for her, though.
Light was being too smart as always and getting away with it.

Ryuk is the main reason for 5 stars. Don't get me wrong, I love the series and I love watching these geniuses play a cat and mouse game. However, Ryuk is the best neutral character ever. He literally serves no purpose but to entertain us.
