Bleach vol. 1 Summary: STRAWBERRY AND THE SOUL REAPERS. Ichigo Kurosaki has always been able to see ghosts, but this ability doesn't change his life nearly as much as his close encounter with Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper and member of the mysterious Soul Society. While fighting a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans who display psychic energy, Rukia attempts to lend Ichigo some of her powers so that he can save his family; but much to her surprise, Ichigo absorbs every last drop of her energy. Now a full-fledged Soul Reaper himself, Ichigo quickly learns that the world he inhabits is one full of dangerous spirits and, along with Rukia - who is slowly regaining her powers - it's Ichigo's job to protect the innocent from Hollows and help the spirits themselves find peace.

I’m awfully aware that mangas aren’t particularly part of genuine literature however we can’t neglect the fact that they are part of the common art.
Such is Tite Kubo’s Bleach.
Although, generally, all shounen manga have a similar storyline to Dragon Ball nevertheless the plot in itself is exciting and has loads to offer. I adored the humor and the character’s development. The fights were a bit Mah (comparing them with Naruto’s rational fights in part 1 and beginning of part 2) and the power ups were somewhat logical without going Saiyan-ic. For all Shonen Manga lovers I believe Bleach will meet your requirements seeing as the concluding ark is leading us to a great finale.
Warning: the use of German and Spanish (for those who grammatically are acquainted with the languages) leaves much to be desired.

"Give me the sword, Shinigami! Let's give your idea a try!"
"It is not Shinigami. It is Kuchiki Rukia."
"I see... I'm Kurosaki Ichigo. Let's pray this doesn't become the last greeting... for both of us."

What word should I use to describe the enormous amount of love I have for Bleach? I truly think that whatever I would use, it wouldn't fully express my feelings. It's an incredibly special story for me and its' MC, Ichigo Kurosaki, is incredibly special person to me (if there was one fictional character I could die for, it would've been him - I'm serious). After re-watching the anime over and over again and dreaming about reading the manga, I FINALLY got an opportunity to do so. I hoped to love it as much as I love the anime. Heck, I was SURE that I will love it as much.

And I did.

After finishing reading volume 1, I'm shocked how bloody the story looks like in the manga. It's something I did not expect at all (I probably should, but didn't). I am also very surprised by the other differences. To this day I lived with a conviction that the anime is a faithful adaptation of the manga - and it mostly is, but there are some things that either were changed or weren't even shown in the anime. And to be honest, I'm overjoyed to see all those differences, especially when it comes to the additional scenes. It's a story I know and love, but it's like I'm exploring it for the very first time. It's exciting! I'm looking forward to read the next volumes, it's so much fun

Bleach is a shounen action series with a weird sense of humor.

Ichigo Kurosaki is a guy who can see ghosts and gets pulled into the world of "soul reapers" by total accident. Now he's stuck battling monsters called Hallows and saving the souls of the living and the dead.

This first volume is a fairly straight-forward monster of the week type manga with a lot of concepts thrown in that will be expanded upon in future volumes. There are points where the dialogue borders on infodump territory for me and feels unnatural, but considering the amount it has to cover in a few chapters to get Ichigo (and the readers) up to speed, it's not too bad.

Phew! It was a long journey . Took me a little over six months to complete the whole bleach manga . But it was worth it . I don't need to say much about this series (there's been already said enough). I love everything about bleach . It's setting , it's characters , the slick art , Uber action scenes . There's a reason it is considered as one of the best shounen mangas after all . Bleach's ending might've been a little lackluster but it can't take away the fact that it's still epic . Recommend this to people who love mangas and are ready to commit to a big series .

Seen the anime a long time ago, but it's my first time actually reading the manga. It's kind of cool seeing the subtle art differences between this and the anime. Love the way the Hollows look - super creepy!

Bleach was always in my childhood just never really a part of it. I do remember very clearly the fight between Ichigo and Kenpachi. That fight alone nearly made me want to get interested in the show, I’d seen a few interesting episodes here and there but that one stands out big time. I’ll likely read the manga up until that point. Or until that thing with that guy and that girl ;)

What’s most mesmerizing is the establishment of the lore here. It’s played out in Naruto, DBZ, all the rest you name it. It’s got that beginning-like feel that you know will get left in the dust so enjoy that while you can. I like it. It always makes me aware how different each series could be just by the smallest changes(and how astonishingly far and unique they all become). The art’s particularly different from what comes to mind (mostly the anime or fanart). Bleach has humor, an intriguing start and plenty of room to grow on us. I’ve got the first three volumes. Continue to impress please! :D

Oh! And most surprising is the nickname Strawberry, hahaha! XD
