seth godin certainly has some interesting ideas. but each time i read one of his books i get the same experience: the original ideas are far apart, and between them there are so many words, and most examples are beyond crap. the connections he makes are mesmerizing and the only reason people keep buying his books is because they can't be bothered to check the examples out. no, geocities was not bought because godin's mumbo-jumbo. it was a product of the easy money and inflation combined with incompetent corporate leadership. it was the dot com bubble, but in this section godin forgets about that aspect, only to inflate it in other speeches.
and ideavirus? it's called meme. this is yet another of godin bankrupt plans to license a term.
i'm some 10% into the book, and i think watching a short video summary would be a much better idea.
