On a moonless night a man entered into his neighbour’s garden and stole the largest melon he could find and brought it home.
He opened it and found it still unripe.
Then behold a marvel!
The man’s conscience woke and smote him with remorse; and he repented having stolen the melon.

Küçücük bir kitap, ve fakat okumak yordu beni, zira alışık olmadığım bir sözdizimi izlenmiş. Hoştu, bazı hikayeler güldürdü, leşçil kuşla alakalı olan şiir de etkileyiciydi.

By some act of coincidence, lately I found myself in possession of four of Gibran's books and I started with The Forerunner, translated in Greek. The translation is not bad, nor ideal either and the introduction leaves something to be desired. As to the book itself, commonly considered a companion book to The Madman (which was written earlier and which I will read next), it certainly does include some interesting ideas and use of language, but I am not sure I understand its underlying point, as stated: the love for humanity.

It seems to me that someone ought to know a bit more of Gibran, of his life and experiences to fully appreciate this book. However, as books do not generally come with instructions, I will stand by my judgement and review it once I have read more of him.

على خلاف أصدقائي هنا أرى أن كتاب جبران هذا أفضل من كتابه "المجنون" رغم أنهما من نفس النوع والأدب الرمزي، إلا أني أرى أن جبران هنا أكثر نضجاً في التجربة من كتابه "المجنون".
رائع جداً.
